Burnaby - Community spirit - Doctor Doom - Inman Elementary School - Love traditions - Marvel Comics - Robert Downey Jr. - Valentine's Day

This Valentine’s Day, students are delivering cards, couples are celebrating traditions, and Robert Downey Jr. is spreading love in his own Marvel way!

Valentine's Day is a joyous occasion that brings people together, and this year, more than 400 students from Inman Elementary School in Burnaby took that spirit to heart! On Friday, these enthusiastic youngsters set out with a mission: to spread love and cheer throughout their neighborhood by delivering handmade Valentine’s Day cards. Armed with creativity and lots of glitter, they knocked on doors, shared heartfelt messages, and put smiles on the faces of everyone they encountered. You can imagine the excitement and curiosity on the recipients' faces as these pint-sized Cupid’s helpers handed out their colorful creations!

Meanwhile, in a display of enduring love, a longtime couple has been keeping their Valentine’s Day tradition alive with a heartwarming ritual that's so sweet, it could make anyone swoon. For decades, they’ve celebrated their relationship by exchanging handcrafted gifts and heartfelt notes. This year, they have outdone themselves again, proving that true love knows no bounds and that it grows stronger with every passing Valentine’s Day. Their uplifting love story is a reminder that sometimes the simplest acts of love can be the most profound.

In the realm of superheroes, Robert Downey Jr. took to social media to delight Marvel fans with a unique Doctor Doom-inspired Valentine’s Day card! Just ahead of his highly anticipated return as Iron Man in the upcoming film “Avengers: Doomsday,” Downey shared some love with a twist. While Doctor Doom may be known as one of the most formidable villains in the Marvel Universe, it seems that even he can have a soft spot for love! The card was cheeky, charming, and a fun way to connect with fans, showcasing that not even comic book drama can overshadow the day of romance.

As Valentine’s Day draws near, it’s interesting to note that the origins of the day date back to the Roman festival of Lupercalia, which was celebrated every February 15th and was marked by fertility rites and the pairing of women with men through lottery-like systems. Fast forward to today, and Valentine’s has transformed into a day dedicated to love and friendship, transcending all boundaries.

Did you know that in Canada, nearly 60% of adults participate in Valentine’s Day festivities? Whether they are buying chocolates, planning romantic dinners, or simply enjoying the warmth of friendship, Canadians certainly know how to spread the love! So whether you’re crafting heartfelt notes like the Burnaby students or sharing fun moments like Robert Downey Jr., remember that love comes in many forms and flavors!
