This Halloween is a frosty affair in Timmins with snow, ice pellets, and a dash of costume fun! Check out our Halloween highlights!

Happy Halloween, Timmins! As ghouls and goblins spread cheer this spooky season, it looks like the weather has decided to join in on the fun with a wintry twist. Today, prepare for snow or periods of ice pellets, with forecasts suggesting about 5 to 10 cm of the white stuff covering our beloved town. Winds will be blowing in from the north at 20 km/h, prompting us all to bundle up tightly—ideal if you're trying to keep warm while seeking the best trick-or-treating routes! Just be cautious: there’s a risk of freezing rain this evening, so make sure your costume is both fabulous and functional!

Speaking of costumes, let’s not forget about our very own USEA members who brought the spook factor last Halloween at the Florida Horse Park! Madison James and her trusty steed, The Riddler—owned by Julia Bitler—stole the show with their charmingly creative costumes. Who doesn’t love when horses join in on the Halloween festivities? 🎉 Let’s just imagine how much fun those fancy dress participants had galloping around, giving out candy while also managing to look bone-chillingly fabulous! 🐴💀

And what’s Halloween without some fun traditions? Let's take a moment to acknowledge how Princeton University’s TigerBlog embraced the holiday spirit in their weekly updates, highlighting the joy it brings with all the costumes, candy, and festive fun. After all, what could be better than dressing up, gathering goodies, and sharing laughs? It’s an event worthy of exclamation points, if you ask me! 🎉

As we embrace this enchanting season, let's not forget the giant skull of Ghost Hill in Fredericktown—the very epitome of spooky landmarks! The creativity surrounding Halloween can inspire not just costumes but also local lore, as every shadowy corner holds tales of ghosts, ghouls, and haunted happenings.

Fun Fact: Did you know that Halloween traces its roots back to the Celtic festival Samhain? People believed that on the eve of this festival, the boundary between the living and the dead was blurred, and mischief would ensue! Also, while you’re wandering through the chilly night air, munching on candies, think about this: Canada is among top three largest consumers of candy during Halloween—from chocolate bars to sour gummies, we love a sweet tooth!
