When a fire broke out at the historic Château Frontenac, guests experienced a wake-up call like no other!

Early Tuesday morning, guests at Quebec City’s iconic Château Frontenac found themselves abruptly roused from their slumber when a fire erupted in a mechanical room on the 14th floor. The clock struck 4:50 AM when the Québec City Fire Department received that heart-stopping call. Responding promptly, firefighters arrived on the scene, greeted not by medieval knights, but by the smell of smoke and a water leak from the fire that had made its way into the luxurious hotel.

The alarm was raised to a third level, prompting a large-scale evacuation of all guests. Fortunately, hotel staff and emergency responders acted swiftly, ensuring that everyone was accounted for and safely guided to evacuation points away from the plume of smoke. Guests reported a mix of confusion and disbelief, as they evacuated in their pajamas, seeking the brisk and chilly morning air of Quebec City, rather than their leisurely breakfasts in bed.

As the firefighters battled the small yet fierce blaze, they managed to suppress the flames by approximately 6 AM, thanks to their rapid response and extensive teamwork. Luckily, no areas outside the mechanical room were affected, much to the relief of guests eager to return to the comforts of the luxurious Château Frontenac.
