Shocking Power Outages Sweep Through Western Canada: What's Happening?

In a shocking turn of events, multiple towns in Western Canada have been plunged into darkness due to a series of power outages. SaskPower announced a planned outage for Middle Lake on July 16, affecting not only Middle Lake but also neighboring areas like Pilger, St. Benedict, and Fulda. Meanwhile, in Vernon, BC, more power outages were sparked, leaving residents in Coldstream without electricity. BC Hydro crews are working to restore power to over 500 affected residents by 10:30 a.m.

The power troubles continue with Ponoka scheduled for a planned outage on July 17 for electrical maintenance on 52 Ave. and 53 Ave. Additionally, over 3,000 Pacific Power customers in North Portland are currently without power and are expecting restoration before 6:30 p.m. on a scorching Weather Impact Alert Day.

As the outages persist, the situation worsens in Vernon and Coldstream, where over 2,000 customers are left in the dark due to a downed wire. BC Hydro reports that the outages have impacted a large area west of Phillips Road to east of 40th Street.
