Connor Zary has had a huge season with the Calgary Wranglers ... (The Win Column)

Looking at Connor Zary's impact with the Calgary Wranglers as a key contributor and one of the Calgary Flames' top prospects.

Connor Zary has made some huge strides this year going from a struggling rookie to one of the best players on the best team in a professional league in the span of a year. Zary has made a big impact for the Wranglers and hopefully it continues for their playoff run. Zary seems to have found his confidence and looks a lot more comfortable at the AHL level. Now, this latest version Connor Zary has had a huge rebound season and he has done it in style. In his first three games of the season, Zary had one point at earned a -7 rating. He played centre in junior, but playing the position at a professional level comes with a lot more responsibilities which led to him having a difficult time finding his groove.

Breaking down the math on if the Calgary Flames can catch the ... (The Win Column)

Looking at the remaining games in the 2022–23 NHL schedule for the Calgary Flames and Seattle Kraken to see how the Flames could make a pass.

If the Kraken go 2–4–1 to end the season, the math definitely works. First things first, the Flames have little margin for error, even if they go 4–0–1 to end the season, they would need some serious help on the Seattle side. The Calgary Flames currently have five games left, and sit at 87 points on the season.

The Calgary Flames have a more favourable schedule than ... (Flames Nation)

The Calgary Flames have made things interesting, coming within two points of the Winnipeg Jets, but the Nashville Predators are also close behind with two games ...

However, it’s contributions from players like Mangiapane and even someone like Milan Lucic that have helped the Flames stay in the fight. Their only game against a team in that position is the Flames. So, now that everyone is below 10 games remaining, what does each team’s schedule look like the rest of the way? They have games against Nashville and Calgary, as well as one with the Sharks. The Jets haven’t been able to separate themselves from the pack after having a relatively solid lead over Calgary and Nashville, as their record in their last 10 games is 5-5-0. The Calgary Flames have made things interesting, coming within two points of the Winnipeg Jets, but the Nashville Predators are also close behind with two games in hand.

And he had to, because a team with a roster like this — older, not exactly overflowing with skill — the choice was either push all-in on a "win now" mode or slide into the kind of irrelevance the Flames faced in the early 2000s and mid-2010s. The Calgary Flames are catching fire at just the right time (Daily Faceoff)

Does this team have enough left in the tank to squeeze into the final spot? Tyler Yaremchuk and Frank Seravalli talked about it on Daily Faceoff Live. Frank ...

I still have some real doubts about their ability to get in to the playoffs, but they’ve made it far more interesting than I thought they would, and part of that is the Jets have also made it far more interesting than I thought they would. It’s a back-to-back for the Flames, if they can take care of business against the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday, and then they fly in to Winnipeg on Wednesday. This Wednesday, the Flames are in Winnipeg. Heck of a time for the Calgary Flames to find that little extra gear knowing that their backs are against the wall. To me it was the Flames in the sense that they showed they have a heartbeat. They showed they have a pulse.

Newfound third-period resilience is breathing new life into Flames ... (Calgary Sun)

The worry now, with only five games remaining, is whether it's all too little, too late.

[sports section](https://calgarysun.com/category/sports) for the latest news and analysis. We had period of the game where we were not very good and we had periods where we controlled a lot of the play. They absolutely have to beat the Jets on Wednesday. All season, it’s felt like the Flames were capable of getting hot and going on a nice streak, but it hasn’t happened until now. They’re still getting the puck deep and trying to create traffic in front. Watching the past two games, it’s been hard to identify what, if anything, the Flames have done differently. The one time in the third period where they got in our zone and I was out there, our zone was pretty fresh. One of those, on Wednesday, happens to be a head-to-head. They remain two points back of the Jets, who hold the Western Conference’s second wildcard spot, with five games to play. Winnipeg won, so we needed to do our part. Article content

Flames look to atone against Blackhawks as Jets showdown looms (Sportsnet.ca)

Everyone knows about the Flames showdown with the Jets on Wednesday. But before that, the Flames take on the lowly Blackhawks, who like so many of the other ...

It was two weeks ago the Flames were handed an 8-2 drubbing in L.A. The hue and cry to have Jakob Pelletier and Matt Coronato in the lineup has quieted, as the lineup that has helped them win five of their last six remains almost fully intact. Both 5-4 wins allowed the Flames to stay within two points of a Jets team that has also turned up the heat its last two outings, setting up a highly-anticipated showdown in Winnipeg between the two on Wednesday. [Chicago Blackhawks](/hockey/nhl/teams/chicago-blackhawks/) have gotten the better of the Flames this season. With the team’s playoff hopes on the line, they’ve played with a sense of urgency that has them coming off their first two third-period comeback wins of the season. [Calgary Flames](/hockey/nhl/teams/calgary-flames/) and an eighth-place tie with Winnipeg is a win against the NHL’s last-place club.

But as we've reported: Never say never, but Dallas has moved on from Zeke, and the Cowboys' suggestion that the "door is open'' for his return is more a matter of respect than it is a matter of fact. I wanted to pick her pocket, but I had a moment at the end of the game, and I was in my bag. The Dallas Cowboys are locked in to Tony Pollard being the lead back in 2023, and we have suggested that maybe they leave him on his one-year franchise tag deal of $10 million because they may use this NFL Draft to find a cheap heir. After months of petitions and campaigns to restore the naming rights of the Pittsburgh Steelers and University of Pittsburgh Panthers stadium, it appears that everyone will be treated to the best of both worlds. Rooney recalled local high school and collegiate football venues that often share different names for their stadium and field, and that the NFL has no such restrictions on “dual naming” of locations, such as the former Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City or Empower Field at Mile High in Denver. According to ESPN, the Buccaneers finished last season 25th in scoring with an average of 18.4 points per game and dead last with an average of 76.9 rushing yards per contest. I doubt I have to talk too much about why a combination of McDavid and Draisaitl work together, as the two have sat in the top five in scoring for the past five seasons. And that’s exactly the type of effort that they’re going to need if they’re going to get in. It’s the stereotypical line combination for a reason, as the playmaker moves the puck up the ice and sets up the chances, the sniper buries the initial set-up and the power forward is there to create chaos in front of the net and occasionally tip home or get the rebound on the shots the sniper doesn’t finish. The Jets' schedule is a little bit harder, and the Flames is a little bit easier, four very, very winnable games after that one coming down the stretch for the Calgary Flames. Heck of a time for the Calgary Flames to find that little extra gear knowing that their backs are against the wall. To me, it was the Flames in the sense that they showed they have a heartbeat.
