James Cameron would get into arguments with the writers of Avatar: The Way of Water if there was any change required in the script.
When asked about James Cameron’s behavior while in the room, Rick Jaffa was thankful to not have experienced any of the issues that he is otherwise infamous for. The strong familial aspect that was the key foundation of the script was one which sprouted because of the comfort within the writers’ room. Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Josh Friedman, Shane Salerno, and James Cameron were all in charge of penning down a script that was to make the movie the massive hit that it became now. But the thing about Jim, in terms of the writer’s room, is that you have to remember he’s a writer also. But in a writer’s room, he’s just one of the writers. Cameron had a big hand to play both as a director and as a writer.
While the James Bond franchise inspired James Cameron's 1994 film, True Lies, the director believes agent 007 is a rotten womanizer.
He presented the idea to Cameron who realized how he could work that into his own film, relating it to the James Bond franchise. Cameron then had the idea of turning True Lies into an action-comedy, instead of a plain old action film. Although True Lies was inspired by the multi-billion dollar franchise, Cameron didn’t hesitate to call James Bond a rotten, womanizing, scumbag. Similarly, the main protagonist of the James Bond franchise was not going to be spared by the filmmaker, either. There’s no doubt to the fact that James Cameron knows what he is doing. While on one hand, James Cameron was a bit inspired by the 007 movies, on the other hand, he bashed them for being “Rotten.”
“Avatar” director and filmmaking visionary James Cameron is lifting the veil on his creative process, and it all starts with dreams. Literal dreams, that is ...
then another part of our brain is supplying a narrative that goes along with it and the narrative doesn’t always make much sense.” you start putting those story segments together and then it starts to turn into a story you’d want to tell to other people.” “Avatar” director and filmmaking visionary James Cameron is lifting the veil on his creative process, and it all starts with dreams.
Legendary filmmaker James Cameron joins Fareed to explain where he gets his story ideas and why they resonate with so many people around the world.
