Pitchers Hyun Jin Ryu and Mitch White were placed on Toronto's injured list as the Blue Jays finalized their opening day roster.

The 28-year-old White had a 1-7 record for the Blue Jays last year with a 5.45 ERA over 99 innings pitched with 78 strikeouts. Toronto began its season on Thursday in St. Ryu made six starts for the Blue Jays last season with a 2-0 record and a 5.67 earned-run average with 16 strikeouts.

Il avait notamment du mal à frapper la balle dans le bon angle, ce qui a entrainé beaucoup de frappes à l'avant-champ pour des retraits faciles. Elle a aussi acquis Erik Swanson des Mariners et fait signer un contrat de trois ans à [Chris Bassitt](https://ici.radio-canada.ca/nouvelle/1940749/blue-jays-toronto-lanceur-chris-bassitt-joueur-autonome) pour mieux garnir ses groupes de releveurs et de lanceurs. Un premier titre en près de 30 ans ne s'est finalement pas matérialisé pour l'équipe torontoise, mais elle a tiré de bonnes leçons de son expérience et elle compte revenir à la charge cette saison avec l'une des meilleures formations de son histoire. Et elle continuera de les motiver jusqu'à ce qu'ils puissent tous corriger la situation en octobre prochain.

In the 52nd start of his major league career, Manoah allowed his most hits ever in the Blue Jays win over the Cardinals.

“That was amazing,” said an upbeat Manoah after his team bailed out the first opening day start of his career. With that in mind he had an up-front seat to the madness, a sprawling game that the pitch clock couldn’t even rescue after taking three hours and 38 minutes to complete. “The heater was good and it had a little more life than he’s used to,” Schneider said of Manoah, just the fifth Jays pitcher aged 25 or younger to make an opening day start. Banked with a 3-0 lead by his electric offence in the first inning, Manoah struggled as his pitch count climbed. Having to wait 174 days since his previous start — a sub-par (his description) in the American League wild-card series loss to Seattle last October — Manoah was champing at the bit to get the season started with a big effort.
