Ontario's so-called sunshine list is out and the three top paid public employees in the province are all at Ontario Power Generation.

The Sunshine List of public servants earning six figures continues to rise. In 2022, a record 266903 people on the provincial payroll earned $100000 or more ...

Conversely, $100,000 last year was equal to $60,010 in 1996. But the Bank of Canada inflation calculator shows $100,000 in 1996 would be the equivalent of $166,630 in 2022. The Sunshine List of six-figure salaries was established in 1996 by Tory premier Mike Harris. Treasury Board President Prabmeet Sarkaria said “the largest year-over-year increase was in the hospitals and boards of public health sector, which represented almost half of the growth of the list.” “The number of teachers earning $100,000 or more remains at historic highs, with 65,510 in 2022, up from 29,975 in 2020,” he said. “This was primarily driven by an increase in the number of nurses represented on the list, which accounted for 78 per cent of the growth in that sector as our government has continued to make unprecedented investments in connecting the people of Ontario to convenient care, including by hiring more health care workers,” said Sarkaria.
