NHL Odds, Preview, Prediction: Golden Knights vs. Flames (The Action Network)

Carol Schram breaks down Thursday's NHL game between the Vegas Golden Knights and Calgary Flames, including a betting prediction.

Meanwhile, the Golden Knights have been finding ways to win. For all their struggles this season, the Flames have posted a 2-0-1 record against the Golden Knights. The content on this page is for informational purposes only. We may be compensated for the links provided on this page. Thompson was activated off the injured list Tuesday and served as the backup in Vancouver, so he could be in position to take the net in Calgary on Thursday. Since March 12, Calgary is averaging 4.5 goals per game and clicking at 29.4% on the power play. Additionally, the Golden Knights’ success has come despite dealing with a long list of injuries. Since the Golden Knights shored up their lineup ahead of the trade deadline, they’ve been even better. Vegas sits fourth in the NHL standings and first in the Western Conference with 94 points. But after some strong outings over the past few weeks, including the win last week in Vegas, Markstrom struggled badly in his past two outings. Will the road team prevail again? So who has the edge Thursday?

NHL Odds: Golden Knights vs. Flames prediction, pick, how to watch ... (ClutchPoints)

The Las Vegas Golden Knights take on the Calgary Flames as we continue our NHL odds series with a prediction, pick and how to watch.

The Flames held the Golden Knights to just 19 shots on the game. Las Vegas should get the win in this game, and if they lose, it will only be by one. Having scored just two goals in the two of the three games they have face Calgary, The Golden Knights need to find a way to net a third goal. Las Vegas is very good on the road, and have outscored their opponents by over a goal a game in their last 10. Do not expect the Flames to hold their opponent below 20 shots again, but if they can continue to limit the scoring opportunies, they can win this game. This type of physical play was key to limiting the Golden Knights to just two goals and 19 shots. If Calgary can get a lot of shots on goal, they will find the back of net a few times in this game. Keeping this same gameplan is important if Calgary wants to have the same kind of success they did on March 16. Las Vegas will need to keep their foot on the gas in these last 11 games as they look to secure the top spot in the West. They need to pick up the pace to end the season if they want to make the playoffs. In the previous three, Calgary has won two of them. The Las Vegas Golden Knights are currently the best team in the Western Conference points-wise.

Flames win the fan in you is a winner, the Knights win you are a monetary winner. That’s the point of this – not to make money, but to further add to the enjoyment of the sports experience – at least for me it is. There’s been a shifting of the winds in Calgary lately. Vegas is a very good hockey club that has the ability to finish off their chances. Look i don’t know why this has a positive payout line – probably because oddsmakers look at the advanced numbers to come up with their odds mixed with the Flames home ice advantage. Calgary is a very good structured club that is sink or swim when it comes to offence.

The total for tonight’s matchup is set at 6.5, with the over priced at -105 and the under at -115. Looking toward the projected goalie matchup, the visiting Golden Knights are expected to start Logan Thompson, while the Flames should go with Jacob Markstrom. Vegas is listed as a +120 underdog, and there’s a lot to like about backing their plus-money odds. It’s been a strange season for the Calgary Flames after they made it to the Western Conference Semi-Final last year, currently fighting for a playoff spot. They haven’t offered much consistency, making the visitors more appealing in this matchup. All Odds Courtesy of FanDuel SportsbookVegas Golden Knights (+120) vs.
