Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Montreal Canadiens Prediction, NHL Odds (Sports Interaction)

The Tampa Bay Lightning open a four-game road trip in Montreal Tuesday night, with a chance to sweep the season series versus the Canadiens.

Their goaltenders’ stats have taken a hit in the last half of the season, with both netminders holding a goals-against average above 3.3. The Canadiens could not hold off Tampa Bay in the third though as they would come back with three consecutive goals to win 5-3. They now sit three points behind the Toronto Maple Leafs who have a pair of games in hand, for second place in the Atlantic Division. Their record on the Over/Under is 33-33-4 so far and their offence has improved their scoring recently, clicking at 4.5 goals per game in their past four. Riding a two-game losing streak, Montreal has only one win in their past 10 contest and has slid to last place in the Atlantic Division. The Lightning have scored at least four goals in each game so far and has won every time by no less than two.

Call of the Wilde: Montreal Canadiens surprise Tampa Bay ... (Globalnews.ca)

The Montreal Canadiens played their best game in weeks, handing a great hockey team, the Tampa Bay Lightning, a 3-2 loss. Brian Wilde has more.

The message here is that there will be no attempt to rise out of the doldrums until the pieces of a rebuild are acquired. The beauty of this too is it would simply be following the rules of the game. This is a serious rebuild with management extremely comfortable to remain in a rebuilding mode while acquiring young assets. Not this time as Hughes laid out a clear path for the coming years with this statement when asked when the club may compete for a playoff spot again: “Listen, I think it’s going to be another two, three years … Just shy of a point-per-game on a team that is among the lowest scoring in the league is quite a number. Hughes gave an interview this week to The Athletic that had one extremely revealing and important moment of clarity. If the leading scorer on the club since the all-star break doesn’t deserve a contract offer of some sort, that would be unfortunate. Most of the time, the aggressor has come charging in from a far distance. It was a tall ask to move Drouin to centre, but he looks more comfortable than he did in his last incarnation. That’s important to mention because it means there isn’t a lot of support there to achieve that type of point total. The only other time he did it regularly was in Halifax his final year of junior. Halfway through the first period, on only their fourth shift together, it was Suzuki with the hookup with Dach.
