Canadiens' Drouin doesn't play vs. Lightning after missing team ... (Sportsnet.ca)

Montreal Canadiens forward Jonathan Drouin did not see the ice in the first two periods against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday, presumably as ...

"We all know Jo, he's a good guy and you never want that to happen to anyone," Richard told reporters in French Saturday morning. "I got to know him a lot this year, I think he's had a great season for us. "You never know when something's gonna happen that, you don't have real control over it — why it happens — and then in that time, you have to, especially as a leader, you have to have a response," St. I love the kid, and for him to handle it the way he did, I gain even more respect for him," he said. And I think tonight was a fair thing, and I think Jo handled it tremendously well." Asked about the situation following the game, a 5-3 loss, St.

Brandon Hagel scores a hat trick in a 5-3 win vs. the Canadiens. ByAP.

“Me and (Drouin) have a great relationship. They were coming off a 9-5 road loss to the [Florida Panthers](http://www.espn.com/nhl/team/_/name/fla/florida-panthers) on Thursday night in which they allowed seven goals in the first period. “I really love the fight of our group today and the engagement. “I think tonight was a fair thing, and Jo (Drouin) handed it tremendously well,” he said. [Brian Elliott](http://www.espn.com/nhl/player/_/id/2865/brian-elliott) finished with 18 saves. But Montreal got even 1:29 later when Gurianov beat Elliott on a one-timer from the lower right circle, then went ahead 3-2 when Hoffman set up Ylonen’s power-play goal. “I felt that the group practiced hard yesterday; we were engaged, we worked on things, and tonight it showed,” Montreal coach Martin St. The Lightning got even at 11:31 when Hedman’s wrister from between the circles beat Montembeault. “I think I couldn’t have come to a better place.” (Montreal) has lost games, but they’ve scored a lot of goals in those losses.” Stamkos tied it at 3 at 3:14 of the third with a power-play one-timer. “You can put him anywhere,” Cooper said.

Montreal begins a home-and-home set with Tampa Bay.

Right Wing Left Wing In the last game both Samuel Montembeault and Jake Allen had to be pulled after ineffective stints, unable to bail a defence out that is allowing too many shots from close range.

Follow me @KarineHains for all updates about the Montreal Canadiens and women's hockey. In the loss to the Panthers, Kaiden Guhle left the game momentarily ...

We’ll know closer to the game what the line-up will look like, I suspect a lot hinges on Guhle being able to play and if St-Louis feels comfortable sitting Drouin with a center line already so depleted. To me, that doesn’t matter, whatever the reason he had for being late, clearly, that was not an acceptable justification to Martin St-Louis and that’s good enough for me. When you have a knee injury, unless it’s a complete tear of a ligament, it doesn’t hurt all that much right away, but the next day, that’s when you realize that you cannot straighten your leg completely or bend it fully and you know you’re in trouble.

Montreal Canadiens vs. Tampa Bay Lightning Prediction, NHL Odds (Sports Interaction)

The Tampa Bay Lightning will try to keep pace with the Toronto Maple Leafs in the race for second place in the Atlantic Division with a third straight win ...

Outshot by a wide 42-30 margin in Thursday’s lopsided loss, the Habs have now allowed an average of 37.8 shots on goal over their past six outings, and been outgunned by wide double-digit margins on five occasions over that stretch. On a positive note, rearguard Mike Matheson has picked up four points over the past three games, and fourth-liner Anthony Richard has chipped two goals and an assist over his past two outings. That early-game meltdown extended what has been a woeful defensive stretch for the Habs, who have now allowed an average of seven goals over their past three games, and 4.60 goals per game while losing five of their past six road dates. Saturday night’s matchup at Amalie Arena marks the third of four meetings between these Atlantic Division rivals on the season and the first of two scheduled clashes over the next four days. The Canadiens have improved to +325 underdogs on the NHL odds since opening as a +335 bet while the Lightning are perched as heavy -400 chalk. A road sweep of dates with the New Jersey Devils this week, capped by Thursday’s 4-3 victory, has Tampa trail Toronto by just three points with 13 regular season games remaining.
