Raptors draft: 4 prospects to watch during March Madness (Raptors Rapture)

These 4 players, including Marcus Sasser and Nick Smith, will have college basketball fixed on them in March Madness. Will the Toronto Raptors draft them?

The Flynn pick may not have worked out very well, but that shouldn’t; necessarily be used as a reason to further discredit Sasser or hate on his fit. Sasser doesn’t get to the rim much, and Toronto’s success with VanVleet doesn’t mean that every undersized guard will work out. Masai Ujiri and the rest of the front office will be watching March Madness with a very keen eye.

O.G. Anunoby's Defensive Impact Is Far More than Box Score Stats (Sports Illustrated)

The Toronto Raptors have seen O.G. Anunoby put up some incredible defensive statistics of late but his impact means far more than just box score numbers.

VanVleet's 36 points leads Raptors past Nuggets 125-110; Toronto ... (Cornwall Seaway News)

Fred VanVleet scored 36 points including a key three-pointer in the fourth quarter as Toronto withstood a late Denver charge for a 125-110 victory on Tuesday.

Barnes and Raptors centre Jakob Poeltl had back-to-back dunks as the Raptors piled on for a 125-108 advantage before Denver’s Christian Braun scored the final points of the game. Raptors all-star forward Pascal Siakam drove to the net for a layup to add two more points to that lead more than minute later. After the teams exchanged field goals VanVleet came back on the court and drained a three-pointer to make it 105-99 with 8:32 left to play. That’s the most the Raptors have ever scored in a single quarter, topping the previous high of 48 set on Jan. “I thought we were very disruptive most of the game,” said Toronto head coach Nick Nurse. “A couple of tough losses definitely.

GANTER: Raptors fans' Fred VanVleet smear campaign is ridiculous (Toronto Sun)

For whatever reason, VanVleet has become the Raptor too many in the local fanbase want to blame every time things don't go the team's way.

I know that’s kind of a funky thing to think about, but it’s probably the truth.” It’s been hard to do that of late as Anunoby went off for 24 points including four three pointers. Seeing an uptick in his usage and making the most of it once again Tuesday night was Anunoby. “But P has been great for us. You want to have 30 and 20 and 15 every night but it doesn’t always work out like that. “Tonight, he had what, 12 points, eight rebounds, four assists?” VanVleet said as he checked the box score. Everyone goes through it. More recently, the ball isn’t finding him as much, Siakam’s usage is down a little as we’ve seen an uptick in offence from the likes of O.G. Yes, the Raptors have issues. When they win it’s because he’s either setting the scoring tone or enabling someone else to with his natural ability to run an offence and find the hot hand. That wasn’t the case Tuesday night, of course. Article content

Raptors Score 49 First Quarter Points, Defeat Nikola Jokic's Nuggets (Yardbarker)

During the Tuesday night NBA slate, the Toronto Raptors defeated the slumping Denver Nuggets 125-110 in a franchise-record 49-point first quarter.

It does seem to be a deep Draft class at tight end and the Bengals should be able to land one with pick No. There is an argument to make that Torres should be maintained as the starting second baseman for the time being, allowing him to build a sample size of success to start the year before the Yankees inevitably move on. With the MLB recognizing Torres as a top 10-second baseman in all of baseball, he has substantial value with a year left of control before he hits free agency in 2025. Torres is currently featuring with Venezuela in the WBC, but the 26-year-old infielder knows his time with the Yankees could be coming to an end. Robinson was the team’s big-ticket free agency acquisition in 2022 but was one of the biggest flops of the season. Moving Ramsey was a start, but there is still plenty of work left for the Rams to do. He was sent to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for tight end Hunter Long and the No. The Kansas City Chiefs agree to terms with the defensive line The Kansas City Chiefs had one of the best defensive lines last season and are set to add to it. The Chiefs accrued the second-most sacks (55) in the league last season, behind only to the Philadelphia Eagles (70) in the regular season. Antetokounmpo's Bucks have the best record in the NBA and the No. A Siakam basket with 8:16 left in the third gave Toronto a 88-64 lead, its largest of the game. “Right now we’re just in chill mode, and you can’t be in chill mode with 13 games to go in the season,” Nuggets coach Michael Malone said.

… Toronto’s previous record for points in a quarter was 48, set in the first quarter at New Jersey on Jan. Still, Malone said before the game that “there was no way (Murray) wasn’t playing.” Murray received a warm ovation when the starters were introduced. Toronto was up 88-64, its biggest lead of the game, after Siakam’s basket with 8:16 left in the third. “Right now we’re just in chill mode, and you can’t be in chill mode with 13 games to go in the season,” Nuggets coach Michael Malone said. Asked whether he thought the Nuggets needed to hear those words, Jokic was clear, saying: “Yes.” “Maybe we’ve gotten a little soft with success,” Malone said.

A note on today’s three stars: This is the first time in the history of this space that two players are sharing first star honours. While everyone seems to have handed Milwaukee’s Brook Lopez (or even teammate Giannis Antetokoumpo) the award, Anunoby (and Canadian superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who happens to be in town Thursday) also have legitimate cases. Anunoby has now played in 55 of 69 Raptors games (80%). Anunoby again did a strong job on MVP contender Nikola Jokic. But unlike the majority of past history, Toronto was able to regroup and seize back command on the way to an impressive and needed victory. Article content
