Three takeaways from the Edmonton Oilers 6-3 win over the Ottawa Senators as the offense continues to stay hot.

Both teams will be hungry to add two points to their totals as the final stretch of the season continues. The Oilers’ second-best superstar forward Leon Draisaitl was able to reach the 100-point mark for the fourth time in his career with a three-point (two goals, one assist) performance. His gritty style of play has been impressive, but his confidence with the puck as of late is showing through and benefiting the Oilers in a big way. Bouchard looks like a more confident player in every situation, and has been very strong in his own end, which is a complete 180 from earlier in the season. His depth scoring and under-the-radar strong play was the reason he earned an opportunity on the second line, and he played well in the increased role.

The Senators ended a six-game scoreless drought on the power play by tying it up 1-1 at 6:48 with Tkachuk’s 27th of the season. Dylan Gambrell set up Stutzle for a shorthanded effort at 18:53 to tied it up heading into the second period. Unable to get the puck out of their zone, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins capitalized with his 31st of the season by firing a blast by Sogaard from the right circle. He has 15 goals and 33 points in 22 career games against the Senators and that came on a pass from McDavid. Nick Bjugstad scored with .04 seconds left on the clock to open up a 5-2 lead heading to the third period. “We battled and there were a couple of mental errors that ended up in the back of our net,” said defenceman Jakob Chychrun.

All night long, Foegele was moving his feet and causing chaos, resulting in a multi-point night for a guy that was asked to fill some pretty big shoes.
