The latest Super Mario Bros. Movie trailer focusses on Mario Kart, and it could play a crucial part in the movie's final act.

From the close-ups of the glimmer on Mario's own kart to Peach grabbing the throttle, not to mention how much of the race has been shown off so far, it's clear that a lot of the runtime will be focused on Mario Kart. It's not only that the latest trailer dedicates so much time to Mario Kart either, but that the shots demonstrate the movie's affection for it. With Mario Kart though, the spectacle is packed in. Clearly intended to show off the star power to dorks like me who set an alarm for the latest Mario trailer, the gang of [Chris Pratt](https://www.thegamer.com/like-chris-pratt-voice-super-mario-bros-movie/), Charlie Day, Seth Rogen, and Keegan Michael-Key were in one group, with [Anya Taylor-Joy](https://www.thegamer.com/chris-pratt-mario-cast-anya-taylor-joy-princess-peach/) and Jack Black in another. While we’ve seen a lot of the Mushroom Kingdom already in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, the latest trailer gives us a glimpse of the Sand Kingdom from Super Mario Odyssey. This is just a nice little game reference, but it appears the kart-selection process in The Super Mario Bros. We’ve already seen Princess Peach in Fire Flower mode in a previous trailer for The Super Mario Bros. The, ahem, star of the latest Super Mario Bros. Movie trailer is this little Luma, plucked from the world of Super Mario Galaxy.
