Boston Bruins vs. Edmonton Oilers: Debating big questions (ESPN)

How many wins and points for the Bruins this season? Can anyone catch Connor McDavid in the goal-scoring race? Will this be the 2023 Stanley Cup Final ...

[my preseason Stanley Cup Final](/nhl/insider/insider/story/_/id/34732780/predicting-every-nhl-team-finish-2022-23-standings), and that's the Oilers. There's a chance the Bruins could face [Sidney Crosby](http://www.espn.com/nhl/player/_/id/3114/sidney-crosby) in the first round of the playoffs -- and anyone who saw the [Pittsburgh Penguins](/nhl/team/_/name/pit/pittsburgh-penguins)' series against the Rangers last season knows how he can assert his will on a series. [Mattias Ekholm](https://www.espn.com/nhl/player/_/id/2558631/mattias-ekholm). From a tight contending crowd also including the [Dallas Stars](/nhl/team/_/name/dal/dallas-stars), [Colorado Avalanche](/nhl/team/_/name/col/colorado-avalanche) -- who failed to grab a better option to serve as a second-line center -- [Vegas Golden Knights](/nhl/team/_/name/vgk/vegas-golden-knights) and [Minnesota Wild](/nhl/team/_/name/min/minnesota-wild), the Oilers sport as good a chance as any of reaching the ultimate round. 2 in points (Edmonton teammate [Leon Draisaitl](https://www.espn.com/nhl/player/_/id/3114727/leon-draisaitl)). Never even mind that forward [Taylor Hall](https://www.espn.com/nhl/player/_/id/5428/taylor-hall) could be good to rejoin forces up front once we get to the knockout stage. [fastest team in NHL history to reach 100 points](/nhl/story/_/id/35772122/bruins-become-fastest-team-100-points-nhl-history). 2 in goals (Boston's [David Pastrnak](https://www.espn.com/nhl/player/_/id/3114778/david-pastrnak)), and 28 points clear of No. (Montreal wins the tiebreaker, having done it in 80 games.) After having lost all of eight games in regulation since October, now the Bruins are expected to drop half that total in a given stretch of two weeks or less? But at this point, it's hard to argue against a team that made additions at the trade deadline to become [Connor McDavid](https://www.espn.com/nhl/player/_/id/3895074/connor-mcdavid) leads the league with 54 goals and 124 points -- he's 10 points clear of the league's No.

So just making sure that when you're in there, you're making the most of it." "Ekholm is one of the elite defensemen in the league. "I think it's a little unlikely that we've kind of remained healthy for pretty much the whole year," said Grzelcyk. We have a ton of good players, obviously, and someone's going to come out of the lineup eventually. Edmonton, which has won three of four since its 3-2 loss to the Bruins on Feb. "Just going to watch him, try to command the puck a little bit and move pucks first touch. "I think they helped themselves a lot," said Montgomery. "I think sometimes the neutral zone can be tough. Matt Grzelcyk, who sat out Boston's last game as a healthy scratch, will be back in the lineup on Thursday night, playing the right side on a pair with Derek Forbort. The only thing the future we worry about is are we prepared to handle the adversity coming your way in the playoffs. "But we stay in the moment, we don't worry about the future. The Boston Bruins host the Edmonton Oilers in what should be an entertaining battle on Thursday night.

They allow the eighth-fewest shots against per game (29.7) in the NHL. He has gone over this total in 45 of 65 games (69.2%) this season. One reason for that is strong offensive numbers as they lead the league in road goals per game (3.97) and power-play percentage (31.1%). [ McDavid over 3.5 shots (-134) ](http://online.northstarbets.ca/page?key=ej0xMzUzNDc2NCZsPTEzNTM0Nzg5JnA9MTcxMjg%3D&utm_source=thestar&utm_medium=display&utm_campaign=NorthStarBetsawareness2023_NorthStarBets_&utm_content=custom/tracking_textlink): The Bruins aren’t a great team to target when looking at shot props. McDavid to record 2+ points & both teams to score 2+ goals With Skinner heating up and Boston owning the best team save percentage (.930) in the NHL this season, goals may be hard to come by. [ Under 6.5 goals (+104) ](http://online.northstarbets.ca/page?key=ej0xMzUzNDc2NCZsPTEzNTM0Nzg5JnA9MTcxMjg%3D&utm_source=thestar&utm_medium=display&utm_campaign=NorthStarBetsawareness2023_NorthStarBets_&utm_content=custom/tracking_textlink): These two squads recently met on Feb. We of course have our eye on Connor McDavid, too. Add to betslip They’re also getting better goaltending away from Edmonton, as Stuart Skinner has a higher save percentage on the road (.917) than at home (.909). Oilers vs Bruins Odds, Picks, and Predictions Tonight: Edmonton ... (Covers.com)

NHL odds, picks, and predictions for the Edmonton Oilers at Boston Bruins on March 9. NHL betting best bet and free pick analysis.

Skinner has been the better of the two, sporting a .913 SV% and a 2.86 GAA, but Campbell has been very disappointing — entering this game with a .882 SV% and a 3.57 GAA. I am very aware of how good Boston is defensively, but the Oilers can flat out score goals and they can explode any given night. [Boston Bruins](https://www.covers.com/sport/hockey/nhl/teams/main/boston-bruins) have tallied a total of 44 goals during their 10-game winning streak and this season they are averaging 3.79 goals per game. [Connor McDavid](https://www.covers.com/sport/hockey/nhl/players/518/connor-mcdavid) and [Leon Draisaitl](https://www.covers.com/sport/hockey/nhl/players/502/leon-draisaitl) have been on fire as of late. I know how good the Bruins have been not only as of late, but also on home ice all season. Edmonton’s goaltending has been very weak this season and is allowing 3.29 goals against per game, so the Bruins' offense should be able to finish its chances as well. [David Pastrnak](https://www.covers.com/sport/hockey/nhl/players/1316/david-pastrnak) and [Patrice Bergeron](https://www.covers.com/sport/hockey/nhl/players/6217/patrice-bergeron) haven’t been as explosive as those two, but they have been at a point a game pace over their last five games as well. A starting goalie hasn't been announced just yet, but Stuart Skinner and Jack Campbell haven’t been all that impressive this season. McDavid has six goals and five assists in his last five games while Draisaitl has tallied five goals and three assists in that same span. Edmonton Oilers Vs Boston Bruins: Battle Against The Best (Oil On Whyte)

The Edmonton Oilers will play against the Boston Bruins tonight in Boston. The Bruins are the best team in the NHL by quite a large margin.

Even if the Edmonton Oilers do lose this game you can’t get too mad. This is why there is a pretty good chance that the Edmonton Oilers could put another loss in the second column on the Bruins record. Tonight will be a chance for them to prove they can do that when they play highly skilled teams. The Edmonton Oilers have improved much more than the Bruins since the game on the 27th. If you watched the last game these teams played, it was one of the better games the Edmonton Oilers played. This game tonight has the makings of another fun-to-watch game.

Game Day Preview: Edmonton Oilers vs Boston Bruins (The Hockey Writers)

Stanley Cup Final preview? The Boston Bruins and Edmonton Oilers should provide one of the best games of the season.

On the other side, David Pastrnak has had his share of success, with eight goals and four assists for 12 points in 12 career games against the Oilers. Bruins forward, Pavel Zacha scored the tiebreaking goal, and Boston was able to shut the Oilers down for the rest of the night. McDavid has averaged 1.6 points per game with four goals and 12 assists for 16 points in 10 career games against the Bruins. Most recently, the Bruins picked up a 3-2 win in Edmonton just under two weeks ago. Edmonton has held a slight edge in goal differential over the time period outscoring the Bruins 41-34 in their past 11 meetings. He scored the game-winning goal in the Oilers’ most recent 3-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres and has 12 goals and 15 assists for 27 points during his current 11-game point streak. NHL Odds, Preview, Prediction: Oilers vs. Bruins (The Action Network)

Jonny Lazarus breaks down Thursday's NHL game between the Edmonton Oilers and Boston Bruins, including a betting prediction.

It has also hit in two of the Bruins’ past three games. The content on this page is for informational purposes only. The Boston Bruins and Edmonton Oilers are gearing up for their second meeting in the past two weeks. Jack Campbell and Stuart Skinner have essentially split time in the blue paint, but Skinner has definitely been the better of the two. We may be compensated for the links provided on this page. As a team, the Oilers are allowing 3.29 goals per game, which ranks 21st in the league. Boston’s goaltending has been outstanding, but either Linus Ullmark or Jeremy Swayman will have a tough time trying to shut down McDavid and Draisaitl. It is hard to think of anything negative to say about the Boston Bruins. They have allowed 17 goals over their past five games and will have to try to slow a very strong Boston team. They’re also skating the seventh-best power play, which is successful at a 23.2% rate. McDavid is having arguably the best season of his career and is riding an 11-game point streak while also leading the league in goals, assists and points. They are averaging 3.86 goals per game and their man-advantage unit is converting 31.7% of the time, which is outstanding.

some might say it's basically another deadline add (I wouldn't) is the return of Evander Kane to the Oilers lineup. If Edmonton wants to win the Cup they are going to need to win games against teams that area ahead of them and perhaps teams that are better than them as well. Another big add for the Oilers tonight...
