What David Pastrnak, Don Sweeney said about Bruins star's new ... (Boston.com)

David Pastrnak and Don Sweeney were both relieved to have the ink dry on the winger's new eight-year, $90 million contract.

“Like I said, I haven’t really tried to mess with the chemistry and it’s unfortunate that in the previous situation we lost a really good teammate in Craig [Smith]. We’ve tried to complement and add to it and reinforce in some areas that we felt we could. We haven’t really tried to uproot the locker room in that sense. I’m honored and happy that I’m staying here, and I can’t wait to get to work.” But such a deal was only made possible by Boston potentially [ losing both Taylor Hall and Nick Foligno for the rest of the regular season](https://www.boston.com/sports/boston-bruins/2023/03/02/bruins-add-tyler-bertuzzi-taylor-hall-nick-foligno-injuries/?p1=hp_primary) … The commitment from ownership to get a deal done is quite obvious in where this landed.” I trust him and he’s doing his job and I’m gonna do my job.” But we were confident in what our organization offers to David, and the success we’ve had and hopefully continue to have. [for Red Wings forward Tyler Bertuzzi](https://www.boston.com/sports/boston-bruins/2023/03/02/bruins-trade-for-red-wings-forward-tyler-bertuzzi/). “These are the guys I grew up with pretty much in my [whole] NHL career. Especially when I get to the rink and when playing. It was off my mind.”
