Bruins are first team in NHL history to achieve this impressive feat (NBC Sports Boston)

History was made in Monday night's game between the Bruins and Oilers at Rogers Place, and we're not talking about Connor McDavid joining the 50-goal club.

The Kraken became the 32nd team when they debuted in 2021-22. But the Bruins rarely play down to their competition. As a result, the Bruins are the first team in league history to beat 31 different opponents in a single regular season.

Boston Bruins: B's Strike Oil in Edmonton (Causeway Crowd)

The Boston Bruins traveled to Edmonton on Monday to take on the Oilers in what was a physical game. We examine some parts of the matchup.

I’m looking for the team to go undefeated in the road trip and extend their streak to 8 wins. He assisted on 2 out of the three goals in yesterday’s game and recorded 3 hits and 2 takeaways. Taylor Hall did not suit up for the game because he went back to Boston with a lower-body injury. Coach Jim Montgomery was switching up the lines during the game to see what he could throw at Edmonton who was able to keep the main stars from getting into their offensive rhythm but ultimately the deeper team prevailed. The game ends 3-2 to put the Bruins at 46-8-5 Going into the match Edmonton was the only team Boston hadn’t played this season and has now played and beat every team in the league at least once.

The big story of the night was obviously McDavid scoring his 50th of the season in just his 61st game. Foligno passed off to Coyle and both McDavid and Kulak bit, allowing Foligno a clean break onto the Oilers net. He has 26 more points than the second-placed Leon Draisaitl (89), 30 more points than the third-placed Nikita Kucherov (85) and 35 points more than the fourth-placed David Pastrnak. All of 13 seconds later, Tomas Nosek was left alone in front of the net and he was able to tie it up at 1. A few quick strides and the puck was off his stick and into the net. For the Oilers, however, it was once again the Connor McDavid show.

Boston had not generated fewer than 21 shots in a game or allowed more than 41 shots against — both of those marks fell with the Flames outshooting the Boston 57-20. With two Flames down on the ice, Orlov grabbed the loose puck and set up Zacha for an open net. Dan Vladar, who allowed two goals on five shots in the first period, was lifted in favor of Jacob Markstrom at the start of the second period. Included is an 11-1-2 mark against the Pacific Division. It was also a career high in saves for Ullmark, whose previous best was 44, accomplished twice. The Flames overcame a 2-0 first-period deficit and led 3-2 in the third period until Zacha scored a power-play goal at 14:07 to tie the game.

SNAPSHOTS: Flames fall in overtime despite outplaying Bruins ... (Calgary Sun)

After some shaky early goaltending, the Flames stuck with it and went toe-to-toe with the NHL's best team at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

The other was Brian Leetch, who recorded 247 in his illustrious career. “I’ve been really privileged or fortunate, I was in Chicago and we named Derek Graham captain, in Calgary we named Jarome captain, so two pretty special guys to say you managed, coached and are friends with them. They’re now five points back of the Western Conference’s second wild-card spot with 21 games left in the regular season. “Fought back, 3-2 lead,” Flames head coach Darryl Sutter said. The tide felt as if it had well and truly turned after Huberdeau’s goal. We’ve got to score a couple in the first period maybe and change the game, but can’t deny how hard guys worked tonight.” It was no surprise to see Jacob Markstrom replace Vladar between the pipes at the start of the second period. “Even then, we’ve got to win that game. It’s a question we have to ask ourselves. He was great, but that won’t make the home side feel any better. We’ve got to find a way to win that game,” said Flames forward Jonathan Huberdeau. Neely: Boston Bruins Can Still 'Tinker' Ahead Of Trade Deadline (Boston Hockey Now)

Boston Bruins President Cam Neely indicated that the B's can still "tinker" with their roster ahead of the NHL trade deadline.

It's a lot of gymnastics going on with the cap but we did give ourselves the opportunity to add if we wanted to." They also have traded a boatload of their draft picks over the last few seasons, which would really limit the ceiling on what kind of deal they could make. But Boston Bruins President Cam Neely left the door ajar for the B’s to make another move ahead of Friday, March 3 at 3 pm, a deal that would most likely shore up their forward depth after the recent move to bring in former first round pick
