'Powerhouse' East already in frenzy ahead of NHL Trade Deadline (NHL.com)

They both followed the Islanders, New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins, who beefed up their lineups by acquiring some of the top players -- ...

Will the Islanders, Maple Leafs, Bruins, Devils and Lightning make more moves before the deadline like the Rangers are expected to do? Of course, seeing that it was the Islanders who jumped the gun on the deadline, it figures the next team to do it would be the Rangers, who got in on the action Feb. But the Maple Leafs might quibble with that; they got OReilly and Acciari from the Blues on Feb. That's what a six-game losing streak will do to a team in the Eastern Conference this season. Will they get involved to push out the Islanders and/or Penguins from a wild card spot? Mikkola was plus-3 and played 25:34 in a 5-2 win against the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday. The Toronto Maple Leafs continued their push to go all in this season by acquiring defenseman Jake McCabe and forward Sam Lafferty from the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday. The Devils are 17-4-3 since Dec. Since then, the Islanders are 6-3-2 and Horvat has five goals in 11 games. "My take on it is, everybody wants to put all the really good players in the East through trades," Devils general manager Tom Fitzgerald said. Maybe the Ottawa Senators as well after forward Derick Brassard essentially called for management to help them out before the deadline with comments he made Monday, saying they have earned the right to be buyers. Toronto had already gotten forwards Ryan O'Reilly and Noel Acciari from the St.

Beyond Patrick Kane, much uncertainty ahead of Friday's NHL trade ... (CBC.ca)

A handful of big moves already have been made around the NHL, including a couple on Sunday, and many more are expected before Friday's 3 p.m. ET deadline.

"It's a little bit emotional, and it's not fun," said Eller, who scored the Cup-clinching goal five years ago. But at the end of the day, you're trying to make your team better every day and that's what management does." Same goes for Washington, which won the Cup in 2018 and has made the playoffs every year since 2014 but has been beset by injuries and other events that could end the streak. Not much of a poker face, but Kane has a full no-movement clause, meaning the three-time Cup champion who was league MVP in 2015-16 can choose where he wants to go. "I am certainly not going to predict where the market goes next," Bruins general manager Don Sweeney said last week after making what could be his first big trade or his only big one. Patrick Kane going from Chicago to the Rangers is the most predictable deal on the docket, and yet plenty of uncertainty remains about what else will shake out.

2023 NHL trade deadline: Tracking and grading all the major deals (For The Win)

This is the kind of deal Kyle Dubas has to make if the Maple Leafs want to win a playoff round. Orlov adds some much-needed depth to the bottom of Boston’s defensive rotation while Hathaway is a perfect fourth-line grinder for this squad. This year’s trade deadline is a bit different than normal, as the deadline is set for Friday, March 3 at 3 p.m.

Lightning's Dream Targets for the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline (The Hockey Writers)

With the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline days away, let's take a look at a few impossible deals that the Tampa Bay Lightning would love to make.

While Tampa Bay would eventually throw down a blockbuster deal for [Ryan McDonagh](https://thehockeywriters.com/docs/ryan-mcdonagh/), the thought of Karlsson playing next to Victor Hedman and creating one of the most dominant Swedish pairings in league history was impossible to ignore. [future Hockey Hall of Fame](https://thehockeywriters.com/16-active-nhlers-destined-for-the-hhof/) defensemen playing next to each other would be undeniably exciting. However, at least they spent those assets well, as Hagel has been a great fit with the franchise and is well-worth what they gave up for him. Especially this season, don’t expect Tampa Bay to be major buyers on the trade market. Plus, adding a top right-shot defenseman would fill a massive hole for the franchise as they really haven’t found a long-term solution for this position. [NHL’s flat salary cap](https://nhl.nbcsports.com/2020/07/10/nhl-salary-cap-to-stay-flat-at-81-5m-bad-news-for-big-spenders-free-agents/) is that the trade deadline simply isn’t as fun as it could be if there was a little more wiggle room for deals to be made. [make $6.65 million a year](https://www.nhl.com/news/brock-boeser-agrees-to-three-year-contract-with-vancouver-canucks/c-334791652) until 2025. There are a number of impact players still on the trade market, both as rentals and for the long-term, that the Lightning would be elated to add to their roster. In recent years, [Boeser’s stock has fallen significantly](https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/value-low-canucks-should-wait-trade-boeser), so it’s easy to forget just how incredible of a player he can be when healthy and fully engaged. He is just 26 years old after all, so he has years of prime games ahead of him that the Lightning could unlock. The reasoning here is simple. As a rookie in the
