The B's beat the Leafs in Game 7 of the first round in 2013, 2018 and 2019. The Bruins are pursuing the No. Andy Strickland of Bally Sports Midwest reported earlier this week that the B's are ["very interested" in Barbashev](https://twitter.com/andystrickland/status/1625542523585282055). 14 on the penalty kill, and the additions of O'Reilly and Acciari should help in that area. It's basically a certainty that the Leafs and Lightning will play in the first round for the second consecutive season, and now the battle for home ice advantage in that series has been heightened. The Blues appear to be in full sell mode right now. If the Bruins win their first-round series and the Leafs beat the Lightning, we would see these Original Six rivals square off in the second round. The Leafs haven't won a playoff series since 2004 and have been eliminated in the first round six straight years. The Leafs rank seventh in both goals scored and goals allowed, and they own the league's sixth-best power play. This trade also gives the Leafs valuable playoff experience. What the Maple Leafs get in big trade for Ryan O'Reilly, Noel Acciari (Sportsnet.ca)

The Maple Leafs made their big move late Friday night, acquiring Ryan O'Reilly and Noel Acciari from the Blues. We take a look at what Kyle Dubas bought in ...

It’s time to push all the chips in the middle of the table and see if this core is capable of going to another level, or levels. And for the record, nobody will remember this team in 20 years due to their regular-season point totals. His physical presence, and flexibility to play both the wing and the middle, is a significant add for the Leafs. The fourth-round pick that Toronto sent to the Minnesota Wild in the trade was due to the fact the Leafs wanted to take on as little cap hit as possible in relation to O’Reilly. Considering around 65 per cent of the salaries have been paid to players by this time in the year, the Wild are on the books to pay only roughly $657,000 of O’Reilly’s salary for the rest of the season. So are O'Reilly and Acciari the answer for a team looking to break through with post-season success? The added bonus on O'Reilly is that the Leafs can use him in a couple of different places, depending on how they want to line match. Having said that, they did not include Matthew Knies (their top prospect) in the deal with the Blues, and that's a positive. He's excellent on the faceoff and will be a big presence on the PK. O'Reilly excelled next to David Perron last year with 37 assists, but hasn't had the same type of finisher with him this season and has just seven assists in 40 games. Similarly, Blues goalies struggled to just an .872 save percentage with O'Reilly on the ice at 5-on-5 — by far the lowest of his whole career. In a lot of ways, this is the part of the trade that the Canucks should keep an eye on. His strong scoring season with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies is likely why the Blues are taking him in the return, and it wouldn’t be too surprising to see him play NHL minutes down the stretch for St. After signing a one-year deal with the Blues in the offseason, the 31-year-old Acciari has had a decent season offensively with 18 points, including ten goals, in 54 games. In a move so crazy that it could only be made late on the Friday night before a long weekend, the Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired Ryan O’Reilly and Noel Acciari as part of a three-way trade with the St. But the Blues’ captain was also playing on a Blues team in transition and dealing with shaky goaltending, two situations he — The trade involves a lot of moving pieces including two more players, four draft picks and salary retention, and today we’ll be going over each team’s part in the deal.
