“We are extremely grateful to Walmart and every shopper who donates to this campaign, making it possible for us to address rising food insecurity in our region,” said Alex Bilotta, CEO of the Food Bank of York Region. Food insecurity has been on the rise since 2022, due to the combination of rising food prices and housing costs and low income, the local food bank said in a news release. Walmart Canada is launching its annual ‘Fight Hunger, Spark Change’ campaign to raise funds in support of the Food Bank of York Region’s services for families, seniors, and people experiencing food insecurity.
