Amanda Shires performed on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" Tuesday to promote her new album, "Take It Like A Man."
In 2021, Shires released [For Christmas](https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-country/amanda-shires-new-song-home-to-me-christmas-album-1253797/), a collection of classics including versions of “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve” and “Silent Night.” Since then, the singer-songwriter and fiddle player has also worked with Isbell on 2020’s Reunions and 2021’s Georgia Blue as a member of the 400 Unit. Joined by frequent collaborator and husband [Jason Isbell](https://www.rollingstone.com/t/jason-isbell/) and her band, Shires sang the album’s first single, “Hawk for the Dove.” “You can call it serious trouble/ Because that’s what I want,” Shires sang while playing the violin. Love is in the hair for day two of Perm Week, which coincides with the show’s annual “Fallontine’s Day” episode. “A professional consultation is really important,” Javier says. “I didn’t go in looking for a perm,” he explains. And Fallon knows a thing or two about experimenting with looks, having been the unfortunate recipient of a “body wave” gone wrong back in his sophomore year of college. “You don’t have to have a tight perm,” Lucille Javier, a color and texture specialist at the A lucky audience member (or two) receives a professional perm, which is then revealed for the first time on the show not only to the audience, but to the participant as well.
