Zach Hyman was awarded a penalty shot only 1:23 later when he was hooked by Alex DeBrincat breaking in on Forsberg all alone. It was Brannstrom’s first goal since Feb. From there, Edmonton shut the door and left with the two points. He’s a good goalie and he’s going to get his opportunity if (Forsberg) can’t go,” Smith said. “We’ll see (Sunday) morning.” “There’s no update on either guy,” said Ottawa coach D.J.

Anton Forsberg Stretchered Off After Suffering Lower-Body Injury (prohockeyrumors.com)

Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg was stretchered off the ice following an injury he sustained in Ottawa's loss to Edmonton this afternoon.

However, the 28-year-old has considerably more professional experience and even a handful of NHL appearances over the years and might be a better option to partner with an inexperienced Sogaard for the time being. The 22-year-old has split the season between AHL Belleville and ECHL Allen and has a save percentage of just .879 with the Baby Sens. [Anton Forsberg](https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/f/forsban01.html?utm_medium=linker&utm_source=www.prohockeyrumors.com&utm_campaign=2023-02-11_hr) had to be stretchered off the ice after suffering what appeared to be a knee injury just before the sixth goal was scored. Ottawa now sits nine points out of the final Wild Card spot so they will have their work cut out for them if they want to get back into the mix. Things haven’t gone as well this season, however, as he entered today’s action with a 3.13 GAA and a .905 SV% in 27 games. Last season, he had a 2.82 GAA along with a .917 SV% in 46 appearances, earning himself a three-year contract extension along the way.

He appeared in 46 games for Ottawa last season, going 22-17-4 with a .917 save percentage an 2.82 goals-against average. "He's been great for us all year," Senators captain Brady Tkachuk said after the loss. A trainer immediately came out before he was taken off the ice. The Senators are currently seventh in the Atlantic Division with a 24-24-3 record and have slim chances to make the postseason. Prior to Saturday's game, Sogaard had appeared in two games for the Senators this season, going 1-1-0 with a 3.07 goals-against average and .889 save percentage. Forsberg signed a three-year, $8.25 million contract with the Senators in March 2021.

The best player in hockey offered up yet another dazzling display Saturday, but nobody leaves an arena in good spirits when a fellow player leaves the ice ...

He’s on pace to score 65 goals and 150 points. “I was kind of on Chabot right away and was just trying to get the puck back somehow and make a (scoring chance),” he said of the goal. For the wags in press box wondering why Oilers coach Jay Woodcroft would waste his star’s talents by putting out McDavid to kill a penalty, the answer became crystal clear soon enough. McDavid established his presence with authority early Saturday. While the Senators couldn’t quite catch up to the moving train of the Oilers Express after being away from game action for 10 days, the scores of young and old fans who flocked into the sold out arena sporting McDavid jerseys witnessed a little more magic. Senators goalie Anton Forsberg had to be stretchered off the ice during the third period of his team's game against the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday.

With both of their primary NHL goalies apparently injured, GM Pierre Dorion may have to reevaluate his team’s strategy as the trade deadline approaches. Forsberg had conceded five goals in the game, a 6-3 shellacking that ended a 4-game win streak for the Sens. Mads Sogaard, who has played most of his hockey with the AHL Belleville Senators this year, finished the contest.
