NHL odds, picks, and predictions for the Toronto Maple Leafs at Columbus Blue Jackets on February 10. NHL betting best bet and free pick analysis.
The Blue Jackets are 1-8 SU in their last nine games vs. However, with the Blue Jackets seeing an average of 6.41 total goals per game, there's still a possibility of this game hitting the Over. I’m not betting on it personally but lean to the Under. If Columbus can nullify a Toronto power play that was driving its offense before the break, this could be a 3-1 game. I’m taking the Leafs in regulation to win at -140. I’m not expecting Toronto to come out of their nine-day break and look like a contender, but the Jackets will need some offense tonight as Columbus has allowed at least four goals in five of its last seven games, and projected The first game back after a break always comes with more variance. It’s not a great lineup, but at -250 and possibly facing a team that sits dead last in point percentage, second-last in goal differential, and has bottom-tier special teams, this is a game Toronto wins 7 out of 10 and possibly more if Samsonov can recapture some of his pre-break success. The Columbus forward is averaging 0.96 points per game on the season and has a 37.6% point share for a Columbus team that averages 2.55 goals per game. However, after the Jackets hit practice without Laine, the moneyline moved to -250. [Patrick Laine](https://www.covers.com/sport/hockey/nhl/players/1590/patrik-laine) did not practice this morning but looks like a go. However, with this being each team’s first game since a long layover, is there value on some Under props from the home-side dogs?

1 (28th in the NHL). Also, Laine has fallen under this mark in nine of his past 17 games. Toronto scores on 25.0% of its power play chances (sixth in the NHL), and that is largely thanks to its top special teams unit. His PP points per 60 rate is the highest on the Maple Leafs. In the same span, Toronto has allowed just 28.4 shots per 60 (fifth in the NHL). We’re also fading Michael Bunting amid a stretch of several scoreless games.
The Maple Leafs failed to cash as +117 home underdogs in a 5-2 loss vs. the Boston Bruins in their last game, back on Feb. 1, before the All-Star break. C Calle ...

Toronto’s defensive play has not been as rock-solid of late, and Columbus does hold some offensive talents trending in the right direction. The content on this page is for informational purposes only. We may be compensated for the links provided on this page. On the other end of the ice, Columbus’ top line of Johnny Gaudreau, Patrik Laine and Boone Jenner should get some strong matchups tonight with Auston Matthews out. As such, it will be interesting to see if there are signs of rust early on in this matchup. Action Network makes no representation or warranty as to the accuracy of the information given or the outcome of any game or event. There is enough arguments as to why this game should get past a total of 6.5 that I like a bet on the total to go over 6.5, and would play it down to -120. Over the last month of action, Blue Jackets games have gone 8-4 to the over, and I believe that with each side coming off a lengthy layoff, this could be a good time to target that trend. Columbus has allowed the league’s fourth-most goals against this season at 3.86 per game and has allowed 3.83 per game over the last month of action (12 games). It’s roughly the same Blue Jackets roster and blue-line which has allowed a plethora of goals against for two straight seasons, and none of the current changes should improve those flaws big picture. The Leafs will look to get back on track in game 53 of one of the most pressure packed seasons in history, and they are priced as a massive -250 favorite over a Columbus team simply focused on developing its young core rather than winning or losing. [Maple Leafs](https://www.actionnetwork.com/nhl/odds/toronto-maple-leafs) and Columbus [Blue Jackets](https://www.actionnetwork.com/nhl/odds/columbus-blue-jackets) will end respective nine and 10 day layoffs as they meet for the first time this season Friday at Nationwide Arena.

The all-star break and coinciding bye week are over, as the Toronto Maple Leafs hit the road to face the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight.
Toronto only has six regulation wins in its past 13 games, but we expect a dominant outing against the NHL’s doormat. Since December began, the Jackets have an NHL-worst 2.32 goals per 60 at all strengths. That includes 15 of its past 24 (62.5%). Getting this spread on the right side of even money sounds good to us. Maple Leafs moneyline - regular time (-150): There’s a ton of juice on this line, and we don’t like it as much from a value standpoint as the puck line, but this provides us with one more way to fade the Blue Jackets. 56.3%
The Toronto Maple Leafs' big boys were all over the scoresheet in their first game back after the All-Star Game and their in-season vacation.
[Matt Murray](/hockey/nhl/players/matt-murray/680827) sits on the injured reserve with an ankle ailment. He nearly scored his first NHL goal in his fourth career game when he was set up by Pontus Holmberg in the first, only to see Korpisalo make a great pad save on the one-timer. [Morgan Rielly](/hockey/nhl/players/morgan-rielly/659812) also had a brilliant helper and [Ilya Samsonov](/hockey/nhl/players/ilya-samsonov/878053) pitched a shutout as Toronto, playing for the first time since Feb. [William Nylander](/hockey/nhl/players/william-nylander/831073), was all over the ice. First off, as noted, Matthews is out of the lineup with a knee injury and though all indications are he may be back sooner rather than later, you love to see guys step up in No. [John Tavares](/hockey/nhl/players/john-tavares/504244) bagged a pair while Mitch Marner — the Leafs’ lone representative at the ASG last weekend in South Florida — had two first-class first assists on those goals.

His first goal came at 5:45 of the first period and proved to be the game-winner. On the season, Tavares is a point-a-game player, with 23 goals and 30 assists (for 53 points) in 53 games. His 62 points rank him first on the team in scoring. Specifically, prior to the game, Samsonov’s road record was 2-4-1 with a 3.29 goals-against-average and a .897 save percentage. His goals-against-average is now 2.32 and his save percentage is .917. Obviously, the shutout suggests that Samsonov had a strong performance in last night’s game. That home record is second only to Andrei Vasilevskiy as the best in the NHL. Engvall and Tavares scored 48 seconds apart to give the team the final 3-0 lead. Ilya Samsonov got the start in Columbus last night. This well-rounded team effort pushed the Maple Leafs’ to success last night. Mitch Marner was the biggest helper, and he contributed two assists. The stars were shining for the Toronto Maple Leafs as they shut out the Columbus Blue Jackets by a score of 3-0.
Columbus doesn't have to wait very long to get another chance at Toronto after last night's loss.
- With Marchenko (13 goals) and Johnson (10) both in double digits, this is the third time in CBJ history that two rookies have at least 10 goals. Roster Report: Pederson is expected to join the Blue Jackets in Toronto but Larsen said Friday night he won't play after being away from action for the past two weeks. 11, 2013: The Blue Jackets post a 6-2 victory over San Jose at Nationwide Arena thanks in part to goals eight seconds apart by Vinny Prospal and Mark Letestu in the third period that tied a franchise record for the fastest goals scored. He ranks sixth in the NHL in goals among rookies and is also fifth in points. The victory would start a franchise-record 12-game home unbeaten streak in which the Jackets went 9-0-3 in Nationwide Arena. He has four goals in the last six games and is tied for second in the NHL among rookies in tallies with Dallas' Wyatt Johnston. The team has to play with a lead at some point. The current group is extremely talented, having made six consecutive postseason appearances, but has been unable to get past some of the top teams in the league in the opening round in that time frame. Jake Muzzin, Nick Robertson, Kyle Clifford and Victor Mete also have been out, and the Leafs enter at 6-4-1 in their last 11 games. It's a home-and-home, back-to-back, as the teams flew to Canada after the game last night and will meet again in Toronto tonight. It feels like a college hockey series, a Friday and Saturday night in which the teams will play each other in consecutive games in opposing barns. "We have to find a way to create some more offense and put a few in the back of the net," captain Boone Jenner said.

They know what we expect of them in terms of the structure we want to play with and the energy in their legs. It is something we have had a little bit more trouble with in the past. It is not unlike what any of our top guys are used to playing against. Collecting just one out of eight points on offer in four games against the Coyotes and Canadiens this season, in addition to recent regulation losses to Ottawa and Detroit, are costly dropped points once added up, especially in a divisional race with so little margin for error. [Leafs](https://mapleleafshotstove.com/) will do tonight with Alex Steeves making his season debut on the fourth line. playoff opposition comes against a Minnesota team that is currently 17th in the NHL in points percentage and barely hanging onto a spot in the Western Conference wildcard race.
New venue, same matchup. The Toronto Maple Leafs and Columbus Blue Jackets cap a home-and-home tonight at Scotiabank Arena.
Columbus fired 30 shots on net last night — and hit this over in seven of their past nine games. On the season, Columbus is averaging 28.9 shots per game. In the same span, Toronto’s games have gone under 6.5 goals five times. Columbus was shut out for a fifth time (the most in the Eastern Conference) and has now scored two or fewer regulation goals in four of its past five games. Woll, 24, made four NHL starts last year but has spent this season entirely in the AHL. As long as Columbus is held to two or fewer goals, the Maple Leafs would need five or more to spoil this — and they’ve only scored that much in two of their past eight games.

It’s time the Blue Jackets stopped letting them have their way, trying to keep them to the outside on break-ins, preventing them from scoring goals where they do best. There are some things that the Blue Jackets will need to improve on to beat the Maple Leafs in Game 2. It will not be an easy one for the Jackets, but if they can make these three improvements, they will have a better shot at crawling out of last place. On top of that, three of the six games he’s been held to one shot have come after the calendar turned to 2023. The game against the Maple Leafs was one of those games and it took him just under 54 minutes to get that lone shot on goal. With the game only one goal away at that point, the Blue Jackets needed to get anything and everything on goal. [Johnny Gaudreau](https://thehockeywriters.com/docs/johnny-gaudreau/) and [Patrik Laine](https://thehockeywriters.com/docs/patrik-laine/) on the top unit, there is no reason that it should see such poor results. Friday’s game was just the beginning as they head to Toronto Saturday to finish a back-to-back. The Leafs would be challenging for a division title if they were in any other division than the Atlantic. The game sat at a 1-0 score for the majority after the Maple Leafs got ahead early in the first period. Let’s face it, the Blue Jackets are the worst team in the NHL.
