The Burkes have been proudly supportive of Pride nights as well as You Can Play. “It started with a bad experience at an Islanders game back in Brooklyn in 2016 or 17. After witnessing some homophobic behaviour by some Islanders fans a number of years ago, he raised some concerns with the team, which then sought him out to forge an inclusive approach. After the Rangers decided at the last minute to not wear any Pride gear, they drew a mountain of criticism. The fourth line of Curtis Lazar, Phil Di Giuseppe and Åman were quality all night. But his tip goal was lovely and you could see the joy as he celebrated the goal. And that’s what Boeser has confirmed yet again this year, even if he spent some of the night skating with Sheldon Dries. The wrist-shot goal he scored Thursday got him to 10 goals on the year. He might have had three in three if a first-period power play goal hadn’t been negated by goalie interference. Pettersson may turn out to be the Canucks’ next captain and perhaps they need him to be. Gamethread #52: Canucks vs Islanders (Nucks Misconduct)

Canucks face a playoff contender that has Bo Horvat on it.

The forwards going to have to hustle their asses back faster and fill the lanes. Again, I am asking Brock to get some goals....or makes some plays...or drop the gloves.....just do something! May the Lord save your liver. The quick turnaround for the Canucks helps reduce the amount of questions the players will have to field when it comes to playing against their former captain. Tonight’s drinking game will include the phrase, “former Canuck Bo Horvat”. This eastern road swing could be named “The roadtrip of one goal losses.” I’m not sure the team is playing well enough to win any of these games, but at least they keep it respectable.

Canucks vs. Islanders: A Massive Night for New York (The Action Network)

Nicholas Martin breaks down Thursday's NHL game between the Colorado Avalanche and Tampa Bay Lightning.

This is a massive night for newcomer Horvat, and everybody in the Islanders locker room will know it. The content on this page is for informational purposes only. Action Network makes no representation or warranty as to the accuracy of the information given or the outcome of any game or event. New York is priced at -235 to do so, with the number being particularly long due to the fact that the Canucks played last night at MSG and the Islanders in a spell of excellent play.

NHL Odds: Canucks-Islanders prediction, pick, how to watch (ClutchPoints)

An inter-conference matchup is on tap for this evening as the Vancouver Canucks take on the New York Islanders in what should be an absolute treat.

Simply put, the Islanders would really have to come out sluggish to let this one slip from their fingers. On paper, it is hard to argue against the fact that the Islanders aren’t the better squad, but in one game, anything can happen. As for the Islanders, New York is right on the fringe of playoff play as they come into this one with a 27-22-5 record through the first 56 games of the season. Most recently, the Canucks defensive efforts have been sloppy as they are surrendering more than 3.94 goals per game which is currently the second-most in all of the league. Despite Canucks fans growing rather restless when it comes to this squad’s ability to return to the postseason play for the first time since the COVID shortened 2019-2020 season. Fresh off of back-to-back devastating losses that have pushed Vancouver’s record to a far below-average mark of 20-27-4, the time is now for the Canucks to turn things around before it is too late.

Anthony Beauvillier returned to UBS arena for the first time since being dealt to the Canucks as part of a package in exchange for Bo Horvat on Jan 30. “I came here as a teenager and left as a man,” Beauvllier said before the game. The Islanders alternate captain extended his point streak to nine games. Phillip Di Giuseppe set up the opportunity when his wraparound attempt created a rebound in front of Sorokin. Barzal converted a one-timer from the left face-off circle at 2:26, shortly after Horvat’s apparent power-play goal was waived off due to goaltender interference. Pettersson blasted a shot from the point that glanced off Sorokin’s leg before crossing the goal line.

The Islanders looked promising in the game but they need wins in the next few weeks along with strong efforts, and losses like these will leave them on the outside of the playoff picture looking in. The goal tied the game to end a period that had four goals scored between the two teams. - Dobson’s goal was his first in 20 games but his 11th on the season which leads all defensemen on the team. Nelson scored his first goal since the All-Star Break and his 20th of the season, which is a team-high. Barzal scored his 14th goal of the season as a power play was expiring with a great shot. Granted, the Islanders unraveled at the end of the second period as well as the third and the team might have looked past the Canucks after two decisive victories. Elias Pettersson scored two goals and [Brock Boeser](https://thehockeywriters.com/docs/brock-boeser/) scored four points to will the team to an upset victory. Beauvillier was given a surplus of opportunities to score and he took advantage to help fuel the Canucks victory. He allowed six goals for the first time all season and three goals in the third period. Unfortunately, he put together one of his worst starts of the season and was the primary reason the Islanders lost. That said, while the loss was a tough one to deal with, the Islanders showed promising signs. The New York Islanders look poised to win their fifth game in a row.
