Police have identified the man killed in a weekend hit-and-run collision in East Danforth and are treating his death as a homicide.

The suspect had been "conversing with a group outside of the establishment" before getting into the driver's seat of the vehicle, police said in a news release on Sunday evening, adding that the suspect allegedly fled in a dark coloured SUV west on Danforth toward Woodbine. Toronto police said the victim, 25-year-old Gabriel del Castillo Mullally of Toronto, had been at a nearby "drinking establishment" and was walking along the sidewalk when the suspect allegedly struck him with a vehicle. The collision happened at Danforth Avenue and Cedarvale Avenue, east of Woodbine Avenue, at 3:58 a.m.
