NHL Odds, Preview, Prediction: Senators vs. Canadiens (January 31) (The Action Network)

Greg Liodice breaks down Tuesday's NHL game between the Ottawa Senators and Montreal Canadiens.

The difference between the Sens and an injury-riddled Canadiens roster is pretty drastic. The content on this page is for informational purposes only. We may be compensated for the links provided on this page. Jake Allen has been on and off the IR, and Sam Montembeault may be taking sole possession of the No. Riddled with injuries, the Habs have gone 4-5-1 in their last 10, and they have lost four out of their last five. While I think there will be some motivation on Montreal’s side to correct its dreadful 5-0 loss, the Senators are just too hot right now as there’s still hope to make a playoff push. Part of the issue is I’m not crazy about D.J. Smith as head coach because looking at this roster, you can imagine why this team should contend for a playoff spot. They also sit at the bottom of the Atlantic Division. The Senators are an anomaly this year to me. The veteran is playing to a +0.9 GSAx and an .893 SV%. Behind Suzuki and Dach, it’s incredibly slim pickings as they don’t have anyone else scoring above 20 points.

Senators vs Canadiens Odds, Picks, and Predictions Tonight: Giroux ... (Covers.com)

NHL odds, picks, and predictions for the Ottawa Senators at Montreal Canadiens on January 31. NHL betting best bet and free pick analysis.

If we’re comparing it to the Saturday meeting, that game closed at 6.5 (-120) to the Under, and looking at expected goals, likely should have hit the Over. Montreal is a bad team but I’m not rushing to get the Sens at -180 — especially with the variance of this being the last game before a long break. Montreal did finish with 3.35 expected goals in the 5-0 loss, but this team is just lacking players who can finish, and if bettors like the Sens and the Over, the smarter play might be on an Ottawa team total Over 3.5. The total opened at 6.5 (-120 to the Under) and hasn’t seen much movement. The Senators are 7-1 SU in their last eight games vs. Giroux has been a point-per-game skater since December 1 and leads the team with 27 points over that stretch of 27 games. The Habs might not have the worst record in hockey, but they’re being priced as the worst team by oddsmakers and that isn’t an overreaction. The Canadiens are rolling with a bare-bones lineup and running on fumes heading into an 11-day break. the Ottawa Senators who sit 24th in points with a 23-26 SU record. He was also announced as the NHL's first star of the week with seven points over three games. He has eight points over his last four games and has recorded a helper in each one of those contests. The Sens blanked the losing-focus Habs 5-0 on Saturday as -240 favorites and sit as -180 road favorites tonight at the Bell Centre.

Senators vs Canadiens Prediction and Betting Analysis | IBD (Insiders Betting Digest)

The Ottawa Senators will travel to Montreal on Tuesday to take on the Canadiens in what should be an exciting NHL matchup!

The NHL pick for this game is the Ottawa Senators. Defenseman Joel Edmondson is listed as day-to-day and will be a game-time decision. They have four players with at least ten goals, with two having at least 15. Montreal is averaging just 2.52 goals per game. Ottawa is allowing 3.16 goals per game as a team. The Ottawa Senators come into play with a record of 23-23-3, good for 49 points. Right winger Cole Caufield leads the team with 26 goals. Looking at NHL player statistics, the Senators are led offensively by left-winger Brady Tkachuk, who has 19 goals and 30 assists for 49 points. Center Mark Kastelic is day-to-day and will be a game-time decision. Senators leads the head-to-head series with a 3-0-0 record over the Canadiens this season. In those three wins, Ottawa has scored 13 goals while allowing just three. The somewhat surprising Ottawa Senators will visit Bell Centre in Montreal on Tuesday night to take on the Canadiens in each team’s last game before the NHL All-Star Break.

Believe it or not, but the Canadiens are 25-25 overall ATS this season and could find themselves north of .500 in that category if they can finally string together a solid performance in tonight’s rematch versus Ottawa. While Montembault has been far from efficient this season, he is at least shown tendencies of being a good goalie thanks to his strong skill set and raw talent that he possesses. Without a doubt, Ottawa would be foolish to not ride with the hot hand in Forsberg later this evening. Currently, Tkachuk has been a huge offensive threat for the Senators as he leads the club in assists and points. When taking a closer look at Ottawa’s last few games played, they have managed to score 13 goals in 180 minutes of action and are seemingly hitting on all cylinders at just the right time. With the win, Ottawa has now won three games in a row as they look to improve upon an impressive three-game winning streak.

Call of the Wilde: Montreal Canadiens dropped by Ottawa Senators ... (Globalnews.ca)

There have been some fairly good performances lately by individuals not getting much praise this season. Brian Wilde has more in this edition of Call of the ...

The upcoming draft pick is likely to be the best centre on the club with the pedigree that these players have at the top of the draft. It is possible that the only two true wingers in the top-six will be Cole Caufield and Juraj Slafkovsky, with the other four having trained as centres. If one argued who goes where using only their play in the last month, Dach is on fire with eight points in his last nine games, and Suzuki has one goal in his last 19 games. Both have played 50 games this year with Dach closing the point total 40 to 33. It’s difficult to know how much Dach will still grow his game, but this feels like a break-out season for a player drafted third who may just be living up to that high pedigree. That was his ninth goal of the season to go with a bundle of goal posts, as the Canadiens hit the post a whopping five times in the two games. They have the potential to be 90- to 130-point players, depending on who it is. It’s only two spots because the best players should be on the top-six of any club. The Canadiens were outshot in the first period 11-4. If the Canadiens win the lottery, they would add to their elite lineup down the middle, Connor Bedard or Adam Fantilli. Louis bumped Havey-Pinard up to the top line halfway through the second period to play with Nick Suzuki, and it immediately the trio played with more spark. [Call Of The Wilde: Ottawa Senators outgun the Montreal Canadiens (Jan.
