A massive boulder pummeled into a Hawaii home and nearly struck a woman inside — and the close call was all caught on video.
No one was hurt in the incident, but the boulder did cause extensive damage to the home. “All I heard was the boom.” The family said that insurance adjusters still have to come to the home to assess the damage, and as of Monday, the boulder remains in their residence.
"I haven't watched the video, but they said if I took one more step, I probably wouldn't be here," the resident said.
Where the boulder came from and what caused it to crash into the home is still under investigation.
The area has undergone many changes over the years, but currently, a cement wall holds back the hillside, and boulders can be seen sitting in the grass above the wall. But the boulder narrowly missed Caroline Sasaki, who was walking toward her couch to watch TV, as seen in security video of the incident. Where the boulder came from and what caused it to crash into the home is still under investigation. All I heard was the boom and then somebody asking me if I was OK,” Sasaki said. Officials say the boulder crashed through the home’s cinder block wall, living room and another wall before ending up in a bedroom. The incident happened at a Palolo Valley home around 11:45 p.m.
"I haven't watched the video, but they said if I took one more step, I probably wouldn't be here," the resident said.
