Ontarians are invited to commemorate the life of David Onley, Ontario's 28th lieutenant-governor, who passed away on Jan. 14 at the age of 72.

Limited seating is available for the public on a first-come basis beginning at 9 a.m. Clair Avenue will be closed from Avenue Road to Mount Pleasant Road between 9 and 11 a.m., and Yonge Street will be closed from Merton Street to St. A funeral for Onley is being held at Yorkminster Park Baptist Church at 11 a.m.

The funeral for former lieutenant governor and TV journalist David Onley was held on Monday.

Onley’s work to improve the lives of people with disabilities continued after his term as lieutenant governor ended in 2014. Onley was the first person with a physical disability to serve in the role. Police and military escorted Onley’s coffin to the Yorkminster Park Baptist Church for the service.
