Senators vs Maple Leafs Odds, Picks, and Predictions Tonight ... (Covers.com)

NHL odds, picks, and predictions for the Ottawa Senators at Toronto Maple Leafs on January 27. NHL betting best bet and free pick analysis.

[Cam Talbot](https://www.covers.com/sport/hockey/nhl/players/520/cam-talbot) has been the better of the Ottawa goalies, and Forsberg enters tonight with a GAA north of 3.00. [Matt Murray](https://www.covers.com/sport/hockey/nhl/players/313/matt-murray) has lost his way. That means [William Nylander](https://www.covers.com/sport/hockey/nhl/players/376/william-nylander) will have to carry the load even more on the second line. The Ottawa offense isn’t a great unit, ranking 25th in goals per game on the season at 2.85, but the loss of Matthews does hurt this Toronto team defensively. Betting Toronto Unders when Samsonov has been in the net has not been a fun ride of late. Ottawa is one of the worst road teams in hockey, sporting an 8-14 record and a negative-19 goal differential. Late last season, the Leafs were -330 home favorites against their Ontario rivals. He is the projected starter against the Senators tonight. Nylander could also have a more aggressive shooting role on the power play without Matthews. The battle of Ontario will continue tonight as Ottawa Senators travel to take on Toronto Maple Leafs. I expect this to be a high-scoring game in general, which only helps aid Nylander's prop that we're targeting. [#Leafs]goalie to leave the ice.

The Battle of Ontario resumes between the Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday.

Maple Leafs to win Period 2 (+100): Backing Toronto to win the second period is an excellent wager as the squad is one of the best middle-frame teams in the league. Ottawa’s one of the lowest-scoring teams during the second period, tying for 30th with 43 goals. Both are actually among the best under squads in the league. They aren’t keeping games close, either, losing by a margin of 23-10 over their last six. Lastly, we’re wagering on Toronto winning the second period. Conversely, Toronto’s dominant at home.

He is willing to go to the net. He is going to be a real good player. He is a guy that has how he can play in the league and help us. I think it is a good opportunity for him to jump into that and see what he can do. He is willing to shoot. He is a guy that has shown well since he has been here with us both offensively and defensively. He had the injury at the start of the season, which was a stumble for him. Obviously, winning cures a lot of things in terms of the emotions of the game, your mood, and coming to the rink every day. It was a decision we were making the other night, and ultimately, we decided to keep him going. Clearly, he is one of the league’s best players, and on any given night, the best player. That is really what the focus is. We want to do a good job on special teams today and look to win the five-on-five game.

He totalled four shots in his most recent outing and six against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night. He has seven across his last five games, including a pair of multi-point outings. DeBrincat’s struggling to find the score sheet these days, totalling just one point over his last six contests. He’s also not generating offence the way many expect. NHL Best Bets: Senators vs. Maple Leafs Game Picks (NESN.com)

Another chapter in the Battle of Ontario goes down tonight, with the Toronto Maple Leafs playing host to the Ottawa Senators.

The Maple Leafs have a ton of star power up front and have been more responsible defensively this year, which has translated in the standings. Goal scoring and keeping pucks out of the net have been major issues for the Senators, while the Maple Leafs sit in the top ten in both categories. Over the last five games for the Sens, one has seen seven or more goals scored, while the Maple Leafs have seen that in two of their previous five. With the Maple Leafs’ consistent play at home, consider their puck line odds of +106. These teams met on October 15, which saw the Maple Leafs pick up a 3-2 victory. The Senators’ netminder has posted an 8-10-2 record with a .901 save percentage, while Murray is 11-5-2 with a .911 save percentage.

There was more goaltending intrigue for Toronto on Friday night, as well.

Joey Anderson replied for the Maple Leafs at 7:15 of the first period. Following the game, Maple Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe was vague on what happened. It came after the Maple Leafs’ Timothy Liljegren accidentally tapped the puck into his own net. Tkachuk had put the Senators up 2-1 only 23 seconds into the second period, deflecting Jake Sanderson’s shot past Samsonov. That prompted Ilya Samsonov to make his sixth consecutive start. Along the way, they also raised fresh concerns about the state of Toronto’s goaltending.
