She and her conservative base might well see themselves as strong, free, industrious and possessing all the right ideas to build prosperity around the world, while also effectively cutting carbon emissions. Smith’s political rival, Alberta NDP Leader Rachel Notley, already crafted such a message last week in her own response to Trudeau’s Just Transition, making clear that all Canadians should get behind Alberta.
