some teams come in and think they’re going to run us right out of the building with physicality, but we’ve got the guys to stand in there.” The Florida Panthers host the All-Star Game on Feb. During the game, it was announced that Draisaitl and Stuart Skinner were selected for the NHL All-Star Weekend through a fan vote. As the period ended, Darnell Nurse and Corey Perry engaged in fisticuffs. Leon Draisaitl scored on the ensuing power play.

“To go out there and — especially in the third — really lock it down. That's been a little bit of a stigma the last season, maybe a little bit in earlier parts of this season, where we weren't having the best thirds. “You want to play against the best and (the Lightning) are a really, really good team. “The confidence has grown in the group,” deflected McDavid, who has an incredible 39 goals and 85 points in 46 games this season — 14 points ahead of Draisaitl in second place and 21 ahead of Kucherov in third. Nikita Kucherov blasted Evander Kane right in the numbers, and Corey Perry took on Darnell Nurse in a fight, just for fun. Once when they were on a back-to-back, the other time when you were.

PRE-GAME REPORT: Oilers vs. Lightning (NHL.com)

The Edmonton Oilers carry their four-game win streak into a Thursday night clash with the Tampa Bay Lightning at Rogers Place. You can watch the game on ...

The Oilers have an NHL-high four skaters with 20+ goals this season in McDavid (38), Draisaitl (26), Hyman (21) & Nugent-Hopkins (21)... "I definitely tend to try to do too much, and I think that got the best of me early in the year. "I think obviously when you get contributions from everybody -- D-men and forwards all up and down the lineup -- it definitely gives you some confidence and helps in those tight games too. "All the D are going right now and it's a lot of fun right now, so we just got to keep it going." I think everyone here is just trying to help the team as much as they can and try to do that moving forward." "I think no matter how you play, I think the confidence is just huge. "I think just managing the puck and not giving away free goals has been a big step for us. "I think winning is fun, and when you win, you go to the rink and everyone's in a good mood," Warren Foegele said about the team's recent run. The 31-year-old is 3-1-1 with a 2.36 goals-against average and a .923 save percentage against the Lightning in his career. "I'm just settling in and getting my confidence and swagger back and been feeling pretty good for a little while now and just want to keep it going," Campbell said. "It's always fun to battle against the best, and that'll be tonight." [Oilers+](https://www.nhl.com/oilers/info/oilersplus) to unlock the Pre-Game Show that will begin at 6:30 p.m.

The assist extended McDavid's point streak to nine games and he now has at least a point in 26 of his last 27 games. "It was a tie game going into the third and they got one there. "We got off to a slow start, but I think we got better as the game went on," said Lightning defenceman Victor Hedman. "You want to play against the best and they are a really, really good team," Hyman said.

Hard-charging Edmonton Oilers take down Tampa Bay to win ... (Edmonton Sun)

The Edmonton Oilers and Tampa Bay Lightning saw each other coming like a pair of territorial tomcats on the same side of the street.

The crowd and a few of the Oilers immediately lit into Maroon as he skated back to the Tampa bench. Former Oiler Patrick Maroon brought things to the next level later in the period, hooking McDavid to the ice and then, angry about the call, slew-footing the Oilers captain when he got back to his feet. They got out to a 2-0 lead, kept their poise when Tampa stormed back to make it 3-3 after 40 minutes and then beat a two-time champion with the game on the line in the final 20. They have been the champs for a long time and continue to put together great teams and it is easy for us to get up for these types of games. “The confidence has grown in the group,” said Connor McDavid, whose goal at 2:10 of the third period in a 3-3 game stood up as the winner. And, in the end, the Oilers were up for the occasion, taking down the vaunted Lightning in a thrilling 5-3 triumph.

29, the Oilers play the Vancouver Canucks, Columbus Blue Jackets and Chicago Blackhawks. All in all, the Oilers have strung together quite a stretch of games here. With Broberg and Bouchard on the ice at 5×5, the Oilers outshot attempted the Lightning 18-2 (90%), outscored them 1-0, and controlled 92.57 percent of the expected goal share (.91-0.07). And much like they’ve shown in recent games, the Oilers once again demonstrated an ability to shut their opponents down in the third period. Big hits, and big saves from two goaltenders — score notwithstanding — were dialled in at the right times. The night started with a feel-good moment in warmups as Pat Maroon skated over to Evander Kane to check up on him months after his skate incidentally sliced 91’s wrist in November.

The Oilers win an electric contest over the Lightning on Thursday night to stretch their win streak to five games.

"Going into third periods, we feel like we have a chance to be mature, be professional, and that's kind of been a little bit of a stigma in the last season. "I think that's the quality of a team that's been in the Stanley Cup Final for the last three years," Head Coach Jay Woodcroft said. I think there was a stretch of games there where Stuart was commanding the net. They did, and were able to come out in the end." Then they got guys who wanted to create a spark, and they did. Two competitive teams that both were coming in on streaks and wanted to keep them going, and I think they came out flat. Maybe earlier in parts of the season we weren't having the best thirds, so I think our mentality has changed a little bit and it's been nice." He got hit right on the numbers in front of their bench, and that kind of started something there," Woodcroft added. Maroon's minor penalty that led to Draisaitl's 27th goal of the campaign set up a physical finish to the frame. The German made it a two-goal lead for Edmonton with a one-timer from just inside the left circle as the energy levels in Rogers Place reached the highest they have all season. I think we've done a good job of doing that since the second half started here." "You can feel it on the ice, you can feel it around the room.
