Crystal Palace vs Man United live score, updates, highlights from ... (Sporting News)

Manchester United look to continue rolling in Premier League play as the Red Devils visit Crystal Palace in a midweek EPL battle at Selhurst Park.

The rest of the matches are streamed on NBC platform Peacock for subscribers. Marcus Rashford also a knock in the Manchester derby, but passes a fitness test to start opposite Antony on the wing, with young Alejandro Garnacho benched despite rumors of a long-term deal agreed. 80 mins to kick: New Manchester United striker Wout Weghorst could potentially make his debut for the Red Devils today, but it does seem like it might be a bit early for that. The two will likely be battling for much of the match, it will be a fascinating contest in the penalty area! 9th min: The most dangerous Man United moment so far came from a great one-two move between Luke Shaw and Wout Weghorst to spring Bruno Fernandes down the left. It's the best chance of the match for either side, but De Gea is there to save United! He cuts the ball back for Fernandes who is completely unmarked right on the penalty spot. The improvement over the past few weeks is so striking, it’s hard not to be impressed.— Charlie Gordon (@CharlieGordonSJ) United are leaning on role players outside of just their goalscorers, which is the mark of a good team. The Red Devil coaching staff is a lonely bunch on the touchline and Selhurst Park is alight. Wilfried Zaha is on the break free on goal, with the game exploding into a wide-open, end-to-end affair. In addition, Casemiro is suspended for the Arsenal match to compound their heartbreak.

One major blow for Patrick Vieira's side is the absence of Joachim Andersen, at centre-back. The player has the second-highest assist rate per 90 minutes in the league this season (behind Leeds United's Joe Gelhardt), but it seems as though his commitment to Manchester United may be questionable. You know the one, the Portuguese winger... I had a feeling with it", Weghorst told the club website. Easy-peasy for Guaita, who laughs in the face* of that type of shots. Antony moans to the referee as he skies a shot miles over the bar. Ex-Man Utd player Zaha makes the eleven. "Of course, I looked into the ones that are free or available. There have been back-heel flicks and moments of skill which highlights the confidence running through this side now that are on their way to continue their incredible winning streak. And Crystal Palace look in no rush to take it off them... Rashford fires a shot over the bar. Lisandro Martínez has been quietly excellent on the ball tonight.

Crystal Palace v Manchester United: Premier League – live (The Guardian)

Minute-by-minute report: Resurgent United are in south London and Scott Murray has all the latest news.

38 min: Shaw bustles in from the left and draws a clumsy foul from Doucoure. He rolls a pass down the channel for Edouard, who holds off Varane on the edge of the United D and sends a dipping shot up and back down towards the top-left corner. This is a free kick in Rashford’s range, just to the left of centre, 25 yards out. 60 min: Zaha advances down the right and wallops a low cross into the United box that nearly bagatelles its way to Edouard. Rashford rolls a pass down the inside-left channel to release Eriksen, who cuts back for Fernandes on the penalty spot. 86 min: Zaha drifts in from the left and looks to plant a spectacular shot into the top right. 89 min: Rashford takes down a long pass on the edge of the Palace box. 72 min: McTominay romps after a Fernandes pass down the inside-right channel. The talent shows through in the end, and we managed to get a point. All of the action is happening at the wrong end of the pitch from a Palace viewpoint, as they look for a late equaliser. 90 min: Schlupp hares down the right and is brought down by a combination of Shaw and Fred, nipping away at him from behind. We have to invest more for a second goal, at 2-0 the game is over.

But yeah, that's what it is, and we have to take the lesson, invest more for the second goal." A great save, I think it was the only change Crystal Palace produced, and we had a couple of good opportunities and scored a great goal. [Chris Richards](http://www.espn.com/soccer/player/_/id/272585/Chris-Richards) on [Scott McTominay](https://www.espn.com/soccer/player/_/id/255850/Scott-McTominay), but United were playing with fire. A more recent example was [Odion Ighalo](https://www.espn.com/soccer/player/_/id/129195/Odion-Ighalo) back in 2020 who did well when given the chance. [Barcelona](/soccer/team?id=83) for three months, and the Swedish striker -- then 35 years old -- helped give the team fresh impetus as they went on to secure the 2006-07 title. But they couldn't build on that and this setback is a real test of the squad's temperament. Even more, United have to make that trip without midfielder [Casemiro](https://www.espn.com/soccer/player/_/id/173666/Casemiro), who earned the final yellow card before suspension on Wednesday. It was to the right of United's goal -- about 30 yards or so out -- and he found the top corner to secure the point with the help of the crossbar. In two key moments, the balance of the title race shifted again further to the red side of north London ahead of Sunday's match at the Emirates.

Michael Olise's added-time free-kick gave Crystal Palace a 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Selhurst Park.

An early booking for Martínez after he was fooled by Olise’s skill on the touchline at the start of the second half was a warning that Palace would not go down without a fight and it took a brilliant interception from Casemiro to stop Édouard racing though on goal. Having led at half-time through a well-constructed goal laid on for Fernandes by Christian Eriksen, with his seventh assist of the season, the visitors failed to press home their advantage after the break and allowed a determined Palace back into the game. Less than three minutes later, United made them pay when Rashford’s ball played in Christian Eriksen and his cutback found Fernandes in acres of space to dispatch the ball past Vicente Guaita. Palace won this fixture on the final day of last season in the closing act of Ralf Rangnick’s brief and forgettable tenure at United, but this time the visitors looked dangerous whenever they won possession. They will know it should be much closer after surrendering their advantage with almost the last kick of the game against a spirited A first-half goal from Bruno Fernandes had seemed to provide yet more compelling evidence that the club that have been crowned champions of England more than any other could be serious title contenders once more.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe's Manchester United bid: The big questions and ... (Sky Sports)

Can Sir Jim Ratcliffe afford to buy Manchester United on his own? What kind of owner would he be? How long could it take to sell the club?

It does help that Ratcliffe already owns a major club in Nice, albeit not one on the same scale as Man Utd. I think what we'll see now is more people showing their hands and more people getting to look at the books. From a United fan's point of view, the answer is simple - as quickly as possible. "The US model of sports ownership is all about significant return on investment," he tweeted. Lucien Favre was brought in as manager and he was the wrong one." However, in terms of results on the pitch it has been a bit underwhelming. Because you're not just looking for a financial return, it's much more of an emotional return in the views of fans and often the owners as well." On the Ligue 1 and Nice scale, they have spent €200m in those three-and-a-half years they have been at the club. "This is not about the money that has been spent or not spent. Their arrival spawned the creation of FC United of Manchester by disassociated fans as a protest breakaway club in 2005. Before any sale goes through, interested bidders - of which INEOS-owner Ratcliffe is only one - will have a chance to scrutinise the club's finances and make sure their investment is what it seems. Buying a club the size of United is not straightforward.

Manchester United: Goodbye to the Premier League title bid that ... (Eurosport.com)

Were they really in the race? Are they really out of it? We don't know, but that draw against Palace showed that United still have lots of improving to do.

Maybe the decent attackers would get some kind of useful contact, and the very decent get some kind of useful goalbound contact. And the tribunal didn't just order Lyon to pay up, but castigated them for failing in their duty of care: "there was no contact with me during my pregnancy. But to get it up and over and back down again; to get that pinch of delicacy into it? This allows for both rotation and variation, according to the opponent and the state of the match. And then in the end she does receive something, from one of the club directors. Maybe all of them would get into position, and most of them would time the jump right. But it's one of the most beautiful things ever to happen on British television, so we beg your forgiveness. We'd mistime the jump and either the ball would be long gone, or it would plant hard into the side of our head. Let's meet back here at the end of March and see what's happened to that gap, shall we? Which isn't to write Antony off, just to suggest that ideally you'd want an alternative there as well, in the interests of rest and rotation and those days when nothing seems to be working. But we're betting that Sancho's eyes were drawn a little further back down the pitch, to the born-again Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Amazing the difference a spot of punctuation makes.

His disrupted force in the middle of the park will be sorely missed and could allow Ødegaard and Granit Xhaka to cause mischief in midfield. You’d imagine that the Red Devils would be happy with either of those outcomes come Sunday as they look to solidify their grip on a top-four spot. They lead the league in direct attacks, defined as the number of open-play sequences that start just inside their own half, have at least 50% of movement towards the opposition’s goal and end in a shot or a touch in the opposition box. With 13 goals and eight assists, he has already surpassed last season’s tallies for both goal involvements (13) and goals (eight) in all competitions. Arsenal will likely try and dominate the ball and United will be happy to absorb pressure before springing forward on the counter. In fact, this Sunday will be the first time in Premier League history that Arsenal come into both league meetings against Manchester United within a single season sitting top of the table. But one area of the game that will scare Arsenal fans is Manchester United’s threat in transitions. Those shots have accumulated in 3.8 xG overall, which is the fourth-lowest total in the division, and they’ve converted those into just two goals -o team has scored fewer. With teams now striving to eke out the most marginal of gains, teams’ performances at set pieces have become a heavily scrutinised part of the game. On only four different occasions have Premier League sides collected more points than this in their first 18 league games of a season. The fact remains that United have lost just once in their last 20 matches in all competitions (W16 D3 L1), and their statement victory last weekend against Manchester City felt like a true momentum swing.
