I was watching some of the routes down the field to kind of materialize, and the pocket may or may not have been collapsing on him," O'Connell said. "And I wasn't able to do that." "I had thrown short of the sticks a few occasions in the game, and even going back a few weeks, I just felt like throwing short of the sticks wouldn't be the end of the world. Hockenson was one of three Minnesota tight ends to get their hands on the ball Sunday, joining Johnny Mundt (a 12-yard catch) and Irv Smith, Jr., who caught a 3-yard touchdown pass. "They did what everybody does," Jefferson said of the Giants defenders. "And then when I went to progress, I just felt like I was about to get sacked and felt like, 'I've got to put the ball in play. What Went Wrong for Kirk Cousins, Vikings on the Decisive Fourth ... (Sports Illustrated)

Cousins, running out of time to throw, checked it down to T.J. Hockenson on fourth down.

This time, with a chance to go tie the game, he didn't get it done. It's especially hard to believe when one of those potential targets is Jefferson, the NFL's leading receiver and a player with a very strong argument as the best in the world at his position. "I had thrown short of the sticks on a few occasions in the game and even going back a few weeks and just felt like throwing short of the sticks isn’t the end of the world," Cousins said. But throwing it up to one of his receivers would at least have created the possibility of a spectacular play to extend the game. But yeah, looking back on it, I maybe could’ve just been a little bit more, ‘Hey, this is kind of where you want the ball to go,’ but I want Kirk to be able to play. "As a play caller, you’re not going to call a primary concept where somebody’s short of the sticks to gain, especially on fourth down," O'Connell said. On the following play, with the season on the line, Cousins checked it down to T.J. Obviously, Hockenson wasn't the first read on that play — and it's fair to question why he was running a three-yard route at all. The third and 8 isn't the play that will be talked about for a long time, though. That’s really the play that I want back is the third and 8." As was the case all season, it was going to come down to a couple critical plays in crunch time. The defense, which allowed 431 yards and gave up five scoring drives, was the bigger issue, putting all kinds of pressure on the offense to be nearly flawless in order to keep pace on the scoreboard.

Vikings: Valhalla Season 3 - What to Expect (Den of Geek)

It could be that the show was always meant to be a trilogy, and creator Jeb Stuart will find some way to condense the multiple decades of history before the Viking era essentially ends at the Battle of Stamford Bridge into one final eight-episode season. But will she find a way to protect her people in the face of the Christian armies that want to wipe all pagans out? Vikings: Valhalla was initially renewed for a second and third season simultaneously, and both have already been shot, so we knew coming into season 2 that it wouldn’t be the end of Lief, Freydis, and Harald’s respective journies. Though he found a fresh start with the kind astronomer Mariam, the fact that he had to say goodbye to yet another woman he loved by the end of the season is the kind of gut punch that would leave anyone in pieces, and the man that he becomes in the aftermath of yet another loss will undoubtedly be very changed. “And it’s not the place, really, where either of these great characters are destined to be.” Look for that trend to continue in season 3, as Harald attempts to make a fortune for himself in the heart of the Byzantine Empire and Lief takes the next steps into becoming the adventurer history remembers him as. She’s willing to lay claim to her identity and her prophesied position within Viking society and ends the season in a classic hero’s pose. Having ended each of Vikings: Valhalla’s first two seasons brutally killing two of her worst enemies—Jarl Kare in the series’ first outing and Olaf Haraldsson in its second—Freydis Eriksdotter has more than proven herself capable of battling any enemy. Where season 2 saw him following in Harald’s footsteps for lack of any better sense of direction, season 3 will likely see Lief chart his own path—literally and figuratively. It’s basically the means by which Harald becomes wealthy and thereby funds not only his return to Norway but his campaign to claim its throne. But, with decades still to go before that point in his story, it seems likely we may see Harald on his own for some time next season. Elena, the young noblewoman they’ve been traveling with turns out to be the future empress of Constantinople, and Harald’s attraction to her may now mean provoking an international incident.

Vikings: Valhalla Star Sam Corlett Is Ready to Chart New Territory (Esquire.com)

After spending the last few years playing Leif Erikson, the 26-year-old is finally coming up for air.

“Where he went from grief to absolute rage at the end of Season One, he comes to a bit more grief and acceptance. And though it was the dream, it still felt like an education, and an opportunity to learn a shit ton about myself and how things operate. “I'm going day-by-day,” he says, with a carefree demeanor, fitting of a self-described nomad, who currently doesn’t have a home—and is set to drive eight hours to the coastal town of Byron Bay after our conversation. I was on the way to the bathroom and I just got hit with this overwhelming sense of emotion. And then one of the grips was literally patting my back as I was taking a piss. “I got an A in my Year 10 test on Viking history, and I think the main thing that was alluring was the mythology and the spirituality of it. Journaling, meditation, and yoga—as well as a morning run and dip in the ocean—proved to be the essential pillars that Corlett needed at the outset of each day to prepare himself for filming. He's a bit lost, and that lostness fuels the anger, and the anger fuels the lostness. “The idea that death could happen became very present, and an encouragement of meditation in mum's life took me a bit more to the spiritual,“ he says. Leif’s story is the breaking down of a man so he can rebuild himself to be the Leif Erikson that we know him to be.” And that philosophy extended to all elements of the character—from the makeup, to the costume, to the writing. “When I got offered to go to Ireland to test for the role, I was like, I’m not sure if this is the right thing for me to do,” he admits.

One of the difficult portions of the journey sees the sled trapped in ice. To get the best look of frozen ice as seen in the series, the team put concrete down on over 3,500 square meters to achieve that. The streamer has also recently released a behind-the-scenes featurette on the making of one of the second season’s most pivotal sets, the Ice River. Having been forced to flee Kattegat after it was besieged by his half-brother, Jarl Olaf (Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson), Prince Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter) journeys to the city of Novgorod in a bid to buy an army worthy of reclaiming the throne of Norway. “So we’re sort of between Novgorod and the Black Sea.” Suter also informs the audience that the boat crew for filming and the boat itself are both called “Falkies.” It offered a return to the Viking age, along with all its beauty and savagery.
