I think we can be a strong line that moves the puck to the offensive zone, transports the puck, and hopefully, I can look for them and we can make some plays. It is the foundation of any successful team: to have reliable goaltending. They are very active and very involved in the offense. He is an older guy coming out of college and all of those kinds of things, but he doesn’t have a great deal of experience at the pro level. They are right in the mix of a really successful road trip. Defensively, it gives them a little more confidence to play the way they do in terms of how their D push the pace up the ice. He has worked incredibly hard and has been an invaluable member of the organization. He has found a way to make his mark very quickly at the AHL level. In net, the shortest starting goalie in the NHL remains a giant presence for the Predators. Individually, Nylander is without a point in his last three games for the first time this season. He brings a kind of lite power forward skill set to the table with a heavy shot, a willingness to drive the net, and an intriguing size and speed combination. One of the lowest-scoring teams in the league for the first 29 games (2.41 goals per game), Nashville has come to life offensively since mid-December with 3.64 goals per game in their last 10.
Jonny Lazarus breaks down Wednesday's NHL game between the Nashville Predators and Toronto Maple Leafs.
The under has hit in four of the last five meetings between these two teams in Toronto, and based on how both of them have been playing lately, I think it will be a tightly played game. The content on this page is for informational purposes only. The Leafs have been excellent defensively on home ice, giving up only 2.43 goals against when they are in front of their fans. The Leafs have given up only three goals against in their last two games. We may be compensated for the links provided on this page. They haven’t confirmed a starter for this game yet, but Murray and Samsonov have essentially been a 1A and 1B tandem this season. They have really tightened things up defensively after allowing five goals against the Seattle Kraken on Jan. Sure, they have scored 17 goals over the span of their winning streak, but this team is currently the 26th-best offense, averaging only 2.79 goals per game. The Predators didn’t have the first half of the season that they would have liked, but now they are slowly climbing back into the playoff picture. I expect the defensive efficiency to continue, and I think they will make it very difficult for the Predators to score goals. The Toronto Maple Leafs have played some very strong hockey as of late, minus a hiccup here or there. Matt Murray and Ilya Samsonov have been splitting the net lately.
Both teams enter this matchup with win streaks on the line as the Nashville Predators visit the Toronto Maple Leafs.

NHL odds, picks, and predictions for Nashville Predators at Toronto Maple Leafs on January 11. NHL betting best bet and free pick analysis.
The power play was dealing with some recent success, and will miss him with the man advantage. The Predators are a team that rolls four lines deep and lacks top-end scoring. Over their win streak, the Predators have beaten Ottawa (+105), Washington (+150), Carolina (+200), and Montreal (-250). However, [John Tavares](https://www.covers.com/sport/hockey/nhl/players/691/john-tavares) will still be on his familiar line with [Mitch Marner](https://www.covers.com/sport/hockey/nhl/players/371/mitchell-marner) and [Calle Jarnkrok](https://www.covers.com/sport/hockey/nhl/players/1829/calle-jarnkrok). The Preds are 7-3 SU in their last 10 and have been settling games at 5-on-5 with a penalty kill that has allowed just four goals over its last 10 games. Both teams also have to play tomorrow, which might favor the Preds, who continue a five-game road trip with a tilt in Montreal tomorrow. Toronto is coming off a pair of wins over the weekend vs. The Finnish goaltender has made over 100 saves in his last two games alone, and is averaging 35.8 saves per game in his last 10 starts. Meanwhile, [Juuse Saros](https://www.covers.com/sport/hockey/nhl/players/1839/juuse-saros) comes in as the best goaltender in the NHL over the last 30 days. Saros has been great of late, and his team has been allowing a god-awful amount of shots. [Pierre Engvall](https://www.covers.com/sport/hockey/nhl/players/27484/pierre-engvall) will play on the top line. [William Nylander](https://www.covers.com/sport/hockey/nhl/players/376/william-nylander) will move to center.
After two impressive wins over the weekend by a combined score of 10-3, the Toronto Maple Leafs hope to keep it rolling against the Nashville Predator...
Toronto should have a significant rest advantage as the team is at home and last played on Sunday. Over 6 goals (-124): Toronto should hold up its end of the bargain in this one and we’re not ruling out Nashville’s offence. Nashville doesn’t seem like an easy mark on the surface thanks to a solid 2.92 goals against average, but its defence is surprisingly leaky. The pregame narrative: Toronto’s offence has been consistently effective since an early-season slump, while the Predators have also seen their scoring improve as the season has gone on. This is the first of two matchups between Nashville and Toronto in 2022-23. Without Matthews, John Tavares' line will become the first unit, while William Nylander will move to center on the No. NHL teams never say what type of injury players have, but Matthews' is apparently not series: "I'd say he's just day-to-day, obviously he's out there putting in lots of work and all that so he's clearly not too far away. He had a career-best 106 points as well as a plus-20 rating. Not many non-goaltenders in the NHL will move a spread or total by missing a game, but one who definitely does is Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews, the reigning league MVP.
