Aladdin Sane, the landmark 1973 album from David Bowie, is getting the reissue treatment for its 50th anniversary.

As one of the final examples of his Ziggy Stardust persona before he was “laid to rest” in July 1973, Aladdin Sane also boasts perhaps the most iconic cover art in Bowie’s mammoth discography, and arguably one of the most recognizable album covers of all time.

The album will be issued as a limited edition 50th anniversary half-speed mastered LP and a picture disc LP pressed from the same master.

It also marked his debut on the US charts reaching the top 20 album chart there, where an edited version of “Time” was released as a single. On April 14th, one week before its Golden Jubilee, the album will be issued as a limited edition 50th anniversary half-speed mastered LP and a picture disc LP pressed from the same master.

A picture disc and a half speed mastered LP will arrive in April 2023.

Bowie described ALADDIN SANE as ‘Ziggy Goes To Washington: Ziggy under the influence of America’. The half-speed was cut by John Webber at AIR Studios. singles chart at numbers 2 and 3 respectively, and was the first time he topped the U.K.

Aladdin Sane, Bowie’s sixth studio album, was released April 30, 1973, just ten months after The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. It featured such songs as “The Jean Genie” and “Drive-In Saturday Night,” and marked Bowie’s debut on the U.S. On April 14, just one week before the actual anniversary, a special limited-edition 50th anniversary half-speed mastered LP of Aladdin Sane is coming out, along with a picture disc LP, which will be pressed from the same master.
