Dubois scores twice, Connor nets winner as Jets down Bolts 4-2 (Globalnews.ca)

With his 41st career game winner, Kyle Connor passed Ilya Kovalchuk for most in franchise history.

It felt like a fight was going to happen, and just past the midway point of the third it did. After taking care of a Dubois penalty, they went back to work with just under two minutes remaining when Connor took his second penalty of the night. Six seconds later, Vladislav Namestnikov sent the puck over the glass to give the Jets a second lengthy 5-on-3 of the night. It was the third fight of Scheifele’s NHL career. It got better as the game went on, but certainly from the drop of the puck to the end, the intensity was there. Power play came up with a couple big goals, but I think our penalty kill has been right there at the top of the league the whole season, and it really showed it’s strength tonight.” “That means the intention is there, and the heart is there, and it’s in the right place. 17, but he made his presence known early in the third. It’s not easy for those guys to miss, whether it’s three months or couple weeks, but it was a big team win for us tonight.” Connor’s goal was his 41st career game winner, passing Ilya Kovalchuk for most in franchise history. That was a hell of a hockey game. “That was a great hockey game right from beginning to the end,” said Jets head coach Rick Bowness.

Recap: Winnipeg Jets vs. Tampa Bay Lightning (Arctic Ice Hockey)

I cannot summarize that game because I cannot figure the Winnipeg Jets out. First of all, full marks to them for beating the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Well, the Jets had a perfect penalty kill, but they scored two of their four goals on the power play and another one was an empty net goal on the penalty kill. - Let’s talk about the vibes of the Jets. The Jets have missed Ehlers a lot and having him back is a huge boost to everything. - Hellebuyck has been the best Jets draft pick ever and a saviour to them when they need it. Even when they appeared to be struggling, they had Connor Hellebuyck and they were able to pull it together enough that the win does not seem like a miracle. I don’t know if they played well necessarily, but they also did not seem to play poorly for the whole game.

The Best the Jets Knew (Arctic Ice Hockey)

Back in September 2008 the Winnipeg Blue Bombers traded running back Charles Roberts to the BC (never called British Columbia) Lions.

He was Big Buff on the ice; a man who could awaken a team with a hit, but also a man who just wanted to go fishing in his down time. While Byfuglien was a personality on the ice, he was also a quiet man off the ice. The Jets are still searching for a top four that good, that skilled, that talented. When he was at his best, he played with Toby Enstrom in a dominant and odd couple pairing. Enstrom’s time with the Jets ended with him being a healthy scratch in an elimination game. He was very good at it, but he also put up with a lot of shit when he played it.

Lightning coach Jon Cooper rips team after loss to Jets (Sportsnet.ca)

After a 4-2 loss to the Winnipeg Jets, Tampa Bay Lightning Jon Cooper had some strong words about his team's effort.

"It's a complete lack of discipline," he said. Defenceman Ian Cole agreed with Cooper's assessment and knows the whole team, including himself, needs to be better at staying out of the box. "We gave them two, minute and a half 5-on-3s in one game. "Honestly, it was really a nothing game going on. "How many 5-on-3s you're up against in one season, you count on maybe one hand," said Cooper. And let's just say he didn't mince his words, that's for sure.

Special teams powers Jets to win over Lightning (NHL.com)

For two teams that only play against each other twice a season, the Winnipeg Jets and Tampa Bay Lightning always seem to turn up the intensity when they ...

As Dubois said, it was a bit of a measuring stick night for the Jets, and they certainly measured up. Good on him to take it to the net and pretty good finish there." You can tell with the intensity that they played the game with tonight. "Two Tampa players looked the other way and next thing you know, (Barron) has the puck. The Jets took their first lead in the third, on their second 5-on-3 advantage of the contest. "It's one of those where you see it happening, you see it coming, and you lose it for a second but you put your stick there and hope it hits," Dubois said, adding that particular deflection was a little different than his first one. "Scheif is a leader on our team, obviously one of our best players, but he's not going to take that.' In a game with that much emotion, special teams plays a big role, and the Jets won that battle. "As the game wore on, all four of them got better," Bowness said. They won the game for us tonight because that's a great power play." "We knew going into it they have the experience and talent. That list included Nikolaj Ehlers (who hasn't played since the second game of the season), Blake Wheeler, Cole Perfetti, and Nate Schmidt.

GAMEDAY: Jets vs Lightning (NHL.com)

The Winnipeg Jets continue a three-game home stand tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Jets have won three in a row for the fifth time this season. It matched the five defencemen that had a point on Dec. A lot of buzz, and a lot of excitement for the players." Five of the seven defencemen had a point on Tuesday against Calgary. It's a matter of coming to the rink every day and love being here. The Jets play eight of their next 10 games against Eastern Conference teams. We have to avoid the long shifts as much as we can." "Someone mentioned it to me and I wasn't even aware of it." "That makes a big difference in keeping your mind sharp as well when you first step in." The guys that have come in have done a fantastic job. We've done a good job of weathering injuries and adversity throughout the season so far. "I walked into the weight room when they were all stretching and there was a loud buzz," said Jets head coach Rick Bowness.

Connor's record-setting power-play goal lifts Jets over Lightning for ... (CBC.ca)

Kyle Connor's record-setting power-play goal at 5:38 of the third led the Winnipeg Jets to a 4-2 victory over the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday.

"There's not a silver bullet here that we just load in the gun and that fixes everything. "Our power play came up with some big goals, but our penalty kill, it's been right up there at the top all season, and it really showed its strength tonight," Connor said. Vladislav Namestnikov followed him six seconds later for delay of game. "How many five-on-threes you're up against in one season, you count on maybe one hand and we give them two minute-and-a-half five-on-threes in one game. They won the game for us tonight because that's a great power play. "The special teams were obviously outstanding," Bowness said.
