This score is perhaps my most elemental to date and it was a joy to work on” - Blanck Mass' Benjamin J Power.
The crew are then driven to the limits of their endurance and loyalties are forced into a confrontation with forces beyond their imagination." As for the show itself, The Rig stars Iain Glen (Jorah Mormont on Game of Thrones) and Emily Hampshire (12 Monkeys series), and here's the synopsis: "When the crew of the North Sea stationed Kinloch Bravo oil rig is due to return to the mainland, a mysterious fog rolls in and cuts off communication with the outside world. “With The Rig being the first TV show I have scored, I feel lucky to have worked with the team behind the show on a score which to my mind is my most concise and unified palette-wise in recent memory,” says Power.

"The detail was incredible, the scale of them was insane. "It's wonderful to see the blossoming of Scotland for this kind of thing," co-star Mark Bonnar added. It's fantastic, it's really pleasurable to see that happening here." The work the art department did was insane – something I have never seen on that scale before," she told As soon as they realised something was up, they came over with the blankets and fire extinguishers. If it happens, it'll likely be a minimum of a year away, which would put any continuation in early 2024.
The ending of new Amazon Prime horror show The Rig explained, including how it sets up a potential Season 2.
That’s the question at the heart of The Rig – why the ancestors are here, and what they want. Baz believes that if the Ancestors see what we can give – and are willing to sacrifice ourselves for their sake – then extinction might be avoided. The wave that Baz warned of in Episode 2 then approaches; a tsunami that will wipe the place out. Now it seems they aren’t happy with Pictor – the company that owns the rig – for pulling oil out of the ground. But then David Coakes shows up in Episode 5 – played by The Full Monty’s Mark Addy – and he becomes The Rig’s antagonist. The crew of the Bravo will be driven to the limits of both their loyalties and their endurance, into a confrontation with forces beyond their imagination. Magnus and his crew aboard the Kinloch Bravo oil rig are stationed off the Scottish coast in the dangerous waters of the North Sea. When the mist rolls in, the workers on Kinloch Bravo are plunged into darkness. Due to their age, characters start calling them The Ancestors. As the crew endeavour to discover what’s driving this unknown force, a major accident forces them to ask questions about who they can really trust. The show is written by David Machpherson, while the first three episodes are directed by Line of Duty helmer John Strickland. But now we’re going to dig into the show’s ending.

Martin Compston, Iain Glen, and Emily Hampshire star in The Rig, an evocative new supernatural thriller from David Macpherson and John Strickland.
I’ve seen the first three episodes before writing this review. Ultimately, The Rig is a compellingly made thriller, brought to life by a talented cast, as memorable in its bigger moments as its smaller ones. Macpherson is quick to sketch out the dynamic between the characters, what unites them and what divides them, which the cast then run with: impressively for a cast of its size (around 14 major speaking parts in the first episode alone), there’s never a danger of anyone being crowded out particularly or feeling short-changed by the series. What’s more important – and more impressive – is what The Rig does well and does distinctly on its own terms. Advertisement The camera pans across his shoulder, fixing its gaze on the window behind him and offering a brief glimpse of the swirling cloud of ash and smoke and rain that surrounds Kinloch Bravo oil rig.
Iain Glen, Richard Pepple, Owen Teale, Mark Bonnar and Mark Addy are all fantastic in their roles. The others aren't bad either but these guys really bring ...
[Episode 1](https://www.thereviewgeek.com/therig-s1e1review/) - It’s a shame for sure but this is definitely one to avoid. To be fair, there will be some who love The Rig . This isn’t played for laughs though, it’s a genuine line of dialogue in the show. These sort of niggling issues continue right the way through to more basic and logical moments, including characters acting smart in one scene and then needlessly foolish and dumb in another to drive the narrative forward. And yet, in episode 5 we see the cameras pointing at the exact areas the crew explored earlier on. I’m not about to spoil what happens but if you thought the writing early on is shaky, wait until episodes 5 and 6. Review Score – 2.5/5 [Episode 4](https://www.thereviewgeek.com/therig-s1e4review/) - As the group work to figure out what this may be, one of the men called Baz, finds himself experiencing horrific visions linked to something on the sea bed. Review Score – 2.5/5 [Episode 3](https://www.thereviewgeek.com/therig-s1e3review/) - However, weird tremors from below the rig, coupled with a thick blanket of fog and strange ash, cause all sorts of problem that soon link themselves to something far worse and more dangerous on the horizon. Review Score – 2.5/5 [Episode 2](https://www.thereviewgeek.com/therig-s1e2review/) -

Most of his injuries are internal, the medic says, and she’s not qualified to operate. He’s written for a number of other publications, too, including Time, The Washington Post and Christianity Today. Characters say the f-word some 17 times, the s-word eight times and the c-word once. We see the man land on the deck, his body bloodied and mangled. The platform begins to shake—and while it feels like an earthquake, no one knows for sure. And the language can be as extreme as a North Sea storm, blustering with f- and s-words. And then, looking almost like an avalanche thundering across the sea, the fog sweeps over the rig, and things start to get really weird. You’re on a platform in the middle of a roiling sea. Oh, and the underwater tremors that are shaking the rig are literally unsettling. But the hardy crew working on the Kinloch Bravo—a rig standing in the heart of the North Sea—experiences just such a truly weird weather pattern. Rose Mason, a representative for the rig’s corporate muckety-mucks, is a little worried about the fog, too. Magnus McMillan, the crew’s leader, doesn’t like the fog and all these strange happenings.
Line of Duty star Martin Compston, Game of Thrones' Iain Glen and Small Axe's Rochenda Sandall react to Mark Bonnar's death in The Rig.
‘And I do think that actors are actually pleased to be part of that as well. I think Mark [Bonnar] was quite pleased to be part of it.’ The crew are astonished when his cause of death is later discovered to be drowning. ‘And then when they’re taken away from you as an audience it’s disconcerting. And I think writers have slightly picked up on that. He joked: ‘I thought, when will it be me?
