[Speaking to Deadline](https://twitter.com/DEADLINE/status/1585517069730074626) about the series last October, Gurira said, “I co-created it with [Scott] Gimple and [Andrew] Lincoln, and we’re having a great time. “Well it’s an epic love story,” she continued. Lincoln starred in the lead role of The Walking Dead since it debuted in 2010, while Gurira joined in the third season. Lincoln left the series after Season 9, while Gurira departed after Season 10; however, both appeared in special guest roles in the eleventh and final season. “It’s a love story between Rick and Michonne, as we know that they were together and got separated. They’ve lived whole other existences, and they have to find themselves again, let alone each other,” Gimple explained.

"I think it's going to be it has all the makings of the things that have always made the Walking Dead really great viewing so, you know, in terms of these characters, and this very particular world and the action that this world insists upon, in order to survive it. While we still don't know the name of the show or the exact details of the story, it was announced at SDCC that the series will "wrap up story arcs," pertaining to the post-apocalyptic couple. The new images were shared by Gurira on her official Instagram, showing the two stars and showrunner smiling together in front of a hotel pool.
Rick and Michonne actors Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira reunite in newly-shared behind-the-scenes images from their upcoming Walking Dead spinoff.
As cool as a Rick and Michonne reunion will be for fans of The Walking Dead, it would be far better to see the five spinoff characters brought back together for one last huge, epic adventure. It is of course a foregone conclusion that Rick and Michonne will “find each other” at some point during the spinoff (for anything else to happen would be a major disappointment for fans). Rick on the other hand is still entangled with the CRM, as indicated by the final shot of him about to be picked up by a helicopter with the city of Philadelphia looming in the background. Could Rick bump into one of his old friends again during the course of the new spinoff? Walking Dead fans at one time were preparing themselves for the return of Rick Grimes via a promised trilogy of theatrically-released feature films. As the Michonne actor reveals, pre-production is underway on the spinoff.

During a recent appearance on Real Ones With Jon Bernthal, Norman Reedus reminisced about his and Bernthal's time together on The Walking Dead, ...
We're sitting there watching, the room's totally quiet, and I looked over at him and he looked over at me, and I go 'you're such a fucking asshole,' and he just starts laughing." Wilson passed away in 2018, after his character had already died on the show, but that had not stopped him from returning in flashbacks, a Robot Chicken parody, and all the other creative ways that The Walking Dead would periodically find to revisit fan-favorite characters after they had been written out of the series for good. He was beloved by his fellow cast members, and made a big impression on fans at events like Walker Stalker Con.
The Walking Dead became one of the biggest shows of the past decade, but its origins were much more humble, including original director Frank Darabont ...
I was like, 'Oh, my God, I love you so much.'" "Frank didn't have the conversations with -- he was like, in love with you and Andy [Lincoln] and Sarah [Wayne Callies], you guys were the group. "I didn't know Frank as well as you guys knew Frank.
The Walking Dead co-creator Robert Kirkman said that his tale of wandering, murderous, reanimated corpses isn't meant to be political. Is it though?
Ultimately, the question remains up in the air, and that conceptual debate serves to only enhance the literary merits of Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead. There’s evidence for both sides of the argument, and it is possible that the writer is attempting to demonstrate the anti-political nature of these kinds of power dynamics found in a post-apocalyptic no-man’s land. [a running theme throughout The Walking Dead](http://screenrant.com/walking-dead-character-deaths-kirkman-reason-realism/) that the many villains who populate the post-apocalypse seem to trend towards the brutal and despotic regardless of their overall power structure, throwing askew any accusations of anti-right-wing bias.
Star Norman Reedus reveals that original The Walking Dead showrunner Frank Darabont was determined to make Daryl as filthy as possible all the time.
Through his brotherly bond with Rick and close ties to Carol, Daryl takes on more of a leadership role within the group, which becomes especially pronounced after Rick's exit in season 9. Although now very different from when he was first introduced to audiences, the spinoff series could see Daryl revert to his former more lone-wolf-type self, which could be an interesting regression to explore. As the show's seasons progress and the zombie apocalypse becomes even more grim, Daryl becomes close with other members of the group, namely Melissa McBride's Carol. [Real Ones with Jon Bernthal](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45kg9k9fc18&ab_channel=REALONESwithJonBernthal) podcast, Reedus reflects on [The Walking Dead season 1](https://screenrant.com/walking-dead-final-episodes-season-1-callbacks/) in a conversation with his former co-star, who played antagonist Shane. When audiences first meet Daryl, the rough biker is caught between his loyalty to his arrogant and racist brother, Merle (Michael Rooker), and his role as part of Rick's group of survivors. Although Daryl always retains his grimy and unkempt appearance, evidently much to Reedus' delight, the character does change quite a bit over the course of The Walking Dead's 11 seasons.
Rick Grimes was the most badass character in The Walking Dead, which was outlined throughout the series by some of his most epic quotes.
This is one of the promises Rick fails to keep, but this act of defiance after a clear failure demonstrates how bold he is in the face of unquestionable defeat. It wasn't long after the end of the war with the Saviors that Rick disappeared from his group, presumed dead. He promised Carl he would make the world a better place to live for his loved ones. The group was imprisoned and left at the mercy of the Terminus cannibals, but Rick wasn't concerned about their ability to escape this seemingly hopeless situation. This shocks the other members of his group but proves to the audience that his demeanor has hardened, and he will take charge to ensure his family survives. He mentioned privately to his group that they would take it by force if they couldn't make the community work out for them. The Governor was the first villain that Rick and his group encountered. However, after the explosive events of the final episode, in which he has just had to kill his best friend, and they were run off the farm by a herd of walkers, Rick is done playing the nice guy. In the second episode, when Merle is causing a ruckus on the mall's roof in Atlanta, Rick disarms and handcuffs the man, saying this line to get his point across. However, there were still hints throughout the first couple of seasons that he had it in him to be the stern, daring leader he became. He and Michonne will return for a spinoff, filling in the blanks of their missing timelines and showing Rick take on the CRM, his most powerful enemy yet. Anybody Gets In The Way Of That Is Gonna Lose."
