2023 World Juniors: Connor Bedard Matches Canadian Scoring ... (FloHockey)

Connor Bedard had four points in a win over Sweden to tie two Canadian records for points scored at the World Juniors.

1 pick for the 2023 NHL Draft probably will need another trip to the World Juniors to have a shot at either of the single-tournament and career scoring records, which are both held by Peter Forsberg, who had 31 points at the 1993 World Junior Championship and 42 points in his WJC career. History in the making. Bedard has averaged 4.5 points in the 2023 tournament. Should Canada win, they are guaranteed two more games for Bedard to achieve more history. In addition to matching the single-tournament record, Bedard is also tied with Eric Lindros for Canada's career scoring record at the World Juniors. That event was restarted the following summer in total, but the games that were played before are being counted for individual records.

Connor Bedard has 14 points to lead the tournament, and he's tied Jordan Eberle's national record of 14 career goals at the men's under-20 event.

“People get motivated in different ways,” he said. Canada enters the final day of Group A action with six points from three games. “First played with him at the under-18 tournament,” said defenceman Jack Matier. But right now my top priority is this tournament and helping the team. “Everyone loves scoring goals and being on the scoresheet,” Williams said. “Pretty hard worker,” Connor said of his father, whose birthday is Saturday. He wants to be better than he was last game. “He was the quiet kid. “There’s not exceptional status for the NHL. “His schedule’s probably tougher than most. “You don’t see that — ever.” “Very sudden,” Clarke said when asked his perspective following Friday’s practice.

TSN's camouflaged camera operator is a hit at the world juniors ... (Toronto Star)

Nathan Eidse, dressed all in white (like his camera), is the man behind on-ice close-ups unlike any other in televised hockey.

“At Memorial Cup last year in Saint John, in the final game, one of the Hamilton players tossed a Gatorade onto the ice because he was angry after being scored on,” said Eidse. “He was on the ice, right in front of Connor, a shot that you will never see (elsewhere) ... He tries his best to stay out of the way. “I know they all have their rituals, within warm-ups and whatnot, and I try not to distract. It has also evolved: from just on-ice shots, to the beginning of a period, to what it is now: almost every stoppage in play. That may explain why he prefers to operate the camera while skating backwards. “The camera didn’t have a cover at that time, because the idea was fairly fresh. It gets to be challenging in a blowout type of game, and so that’s where I try and find new and creative ways of getting the bench celebration (from a different) angle.” [Skip Advertisement] But Gretzky was the one that said we need to cover the camera in white.” Other networks have used camera operators on the ice, but not camouflaged and not as frequently as TSN does for international hockey. [CFL coverage.](https://www.thestar.com/sports/football/cfl.html) “I’m not going to lie. It’s obviously a cool angle for the fans.”
