WWE star John Cena made a much-awaited return to in-ring action on the last SmackDown of the year. The Champ teamed up with Kevin Owens to take on Bloodline ...

Sheamus struck with his trademark Brogue Kick while McIntyre hit a Claymore to send the tag team champions tumbling out of the ring. The Bloodline members were not pleased after this loss and wanted to reassert their dominance. This led to a beat down by the Undisputed tag team champions, with Zayn also joining in. He got disqualified in his match against Seth Rollins at the Royal Rumble earlier this year. But there was action after SmackDown went off air, which saw the Usos attacking both Cena and the Prizefighter. The Champ teamed up with Kevin Owens to take on Bloodline members [Roman Reigns](https://www.essentiallysports.com/tag/roman-reigns/) and Sami Zayn.

A sold-out Amalie Arena crowd welcomed the wrestling icon back into the ring.

Cena and partner Kevin Owens conquered undisputed champion Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn in a tag team match to top off WWE's final "Friday Night Smackdown" of the year.

He had the microphone in hand, delivering a rousing speech to his adoring fans. He received a goosebump inducing reception from his home crowd, something he was keen not to take for granted making sure to thank them all for coming out and supporting him after all the time away, he still is one of the biggest draws around. John Cena was full of praise for the competitors he shared the ring with on Friday evening, as well as the incredible support, making sure all those in attendance knew exactly how grateful he was as the show went off air. [WWE](http://www.givemesport.com/wwe) saw the return of one of its favourite sons on Friday night, with the final show of the year seeing [John Cena](http://www.givemesport.com/john-cena) return for action for the first time in 2022, teaming up with [Kevin Owens](http://www.givemesport.com/kevin-owens) to take on [Roman Reigns](http://www.givemesport.com/roman-reigns) and [Sami Zayn](http://www.givemesport.com/sami-zayn). John Cena was back in his own backyard in Tampa Bay, making sure the fans knew just how special the night was for him and how much he respected them as the show went off air. It was a match fit for the return of John Cena, slotting straight back in with the biggest and best names the company has to offer at the moment, and boy did he and the others deliver, with the match ending in what was probably the best way.

In the main event on Saturday, Cena was welcomed with the loud cheer while the match began with two former best friends – Zayn and Owens taking on each other. The 16-time World Champion, John Cena happened to be his tag partner for the match against Reigns and Zayn.
