Modest Mouse drummer Jeremiah Green

Jeremiah Green, the drummer for the band Modest Mouse, was diagnosed with cancer a "short while ago," he bandmate revealed Wednesday.

His more recent side projects include the band Vells and Psychic Emperor. While the band has gone through numerous lineup changes over the past two decades, Green has been the second most consistent member, next to Brock; he briefly stepped away from the group around 2003 in the midst of a nervous breakdown but returned in 2004. Jeremiah, as am I, are believers in the power of positive energy, so if you would be so kind as to send ‘good vibes’ (to quote Jeremiah) in the direction of Jeremiah and his family, that’d be great.

Jeremiah Green, drummer for Grammy-nominated rock band Modest Mouse, is fighting late-stage cancer, this according to his family.

The ndie rock band was nominated for Best Alternative Music Album at the 47th Grammy Awards in 2005. Seattle radio DJ Marco Collins also took to FB to give an update about his friend, saying Green had to slam the breaks on touring with the band so he could receive chemotherapy. His mom, Carol Namatame, posted a Facebook message about Jeremiah's diagnosis, but did not reveal his specific type of cancer.

The band's frontman Isaac Brock asked friends and fans for "good vibes" as Jeremiah Green goes through treatment.
