Oilers vs Flames Odds, Picks, and Predictions Tonight: The Battle of ... (Covers.com)

NHL odds, picks, and predictions for the Edmonton Oilers at Calgary Flames on December 27. NHL betting best bet and free pick analysis.

To add to that, the Over also happened to have hit in five out of the last six games for the Flames. It feels like whenever the Flames and Oilers get together, there are a ton of goals being scored, however, that wasn’t the case in October as only five pucks found twine. The scariest thing about the Oilers right now is that they are finding goal-scoring from players other than McDavid and Draisaitl, which makes them even more dangerous than usual. I think Edmonton is a much better team than Calgary right now and I love them in this spot as the underdog. I like the Over here. The Oilers took the first meeting in Calgary and are looking to do the exact same thing tonight. Funny enough, the Oilers have typically been the team in this rivalry that had to worry about goaltending, but they may have accidentally found their number-one guy. The guy is on fire. These two are so dominant it is almost unfair. On a positive note, he does have a +4.7 goals saved above expected. He enters this contest with an 11-8-4 record, an .894 save percentage, and a 2.84 goals-against average. [Connor McDavid](https://www.covers.com/sport/hockey/nhl/players/518/connor-mcdavid) and [Leon Draisaitl](https://www.covers.com/sport/hockey/nhl/players/502/leon-draisaitl) are leading the league in scoring yet again, and the team is currently skating to a 3.48 xGF/60.

Nicholas Martin breaks down Tuesday's NHL game between the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames, including odds and a betting pick.

Despite its early struggles, Calgary has actually consistently generated offensive chances at a very reasonable clip this season. Action Network makes no representation or warranty as to the accuracy of the information given or the outcome of any game or event. It will likely continue to show better offense moving forward. Edmonton will always be liable to have that flaw exposed against top sides. Jacob Markstrom has found his form in goal for the Flames and enters this matchup with a +4.7 goals saved above expected rating and a .894 save percentage in 24 appearances. The Oilers have played to a success rate of just 72.3% on the penalty kill, which is the seventh-worst mark in the league. Get up-to-the-minute [NHL Odds](https://www.actionnetwork.com/nhl/odds)here. However Edmonton still enters this contest outside of the playoff picture in a soft Western Conference, and a number of the usual concerns have been prominent. A number of its top defenders, such as Darnell Nurse and Evan Bouchard, have continually offered up turnovers in bad locations on the ice and will still deservedly continue to play massive roles on this defensive corps moving forward.

Tuesday's Flames vs. Oilers tilt in Calgary is the third and final regular-season game in the Battle of Alberta as both teams look to return from the ...

For much of the evening, the visiting Flames looked like the better side. Less than a minute into the second period, the seed of doubt was planted. On Friday night it looked as if Jay Woodcroft and his ensemble were going to deserve a relaxing Christmas break with a win over the Canucks under their belt. Interestingly, it took a long time for Edmonton and Calgary to meet again in the playoffs. After a few days off for Christmas, what better way to burn those calories than with a new chapter in the Battle of Alberta? Tonight marks the third meeting of the present campaign.

Game Notes: Edmonton Oilers @ Calgary Flames (Oilers Nation)

1. Tuesday night's game between the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames will be the third and final Battle of Alberta during the 2022-23 regular season. It's ...

For the Oilers, sitting at 18-15-2 is nowhere near where they wanted to be at this point in the season. Part of the team’s ho-hum performance can be attributed to a down season from Jacob Markstrom, who has an .894 save percentage through his first 24 starts, but another major issue for the Flames has been a lack of scoring power. After a wild off-season in which the team lost Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Tkachuk and added Nazem Kadri, Jonathan Huberdeau, and MacKenzie Weegar, the Flames came flying out of the gate and won five of their first six games. The Oilers won the rematch a few weeks later in Calgary by a score of 3-2 thanks largely to a 40-save performance from Stuart Skinner. Both teams have played 35 games, the Oilers have 18 wins and the Flames have 16. It’s been said before and it’ll be said again, but it’s absurd that Edmonton and Calgary are only playing each other three times over the course of an 82-game schedule and all three of those games will have been played before the turn of the year.

Oilers vs Flames Prediction, Odds, Line, and Picks - December 27 ... (Sportskeeda)

The Edmonton Oilers will play the Calgary Flames in the NHL on Tuesday.

Calgary, on the other hand, are 3-8 in their last 11 games, struggling against a team with a winning record. Their defense has not been in sync with the offense and needs changes to lower the rate of more than 3.4 goals conceded per game this season. Edmonton have scored over three goals per game this season, with the trio of Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins playing a big role in it. Edmonton have come back stronger in their last six games after scoring two goals or less in their previous game, winning five of them. Placed fifth in the Western Conference Pacific with 38 points, a win in this game will see them move to third position in the standings. Calgary have had a decent run lately and are placed fourth in the Western Conference Pacific Division with 39 points.

“I don’t think it ruins anything in that regard, but it’s just different not playing them as one of the closest teams that you have and one of the biggest rivals. “I think the demand to watch the games when we play each other is going to be constant, whether we play them 10 times a year or three times a year,” Nurse said. “We’re almost at the midway point here so I don’t think it’s too early to say that,” Nurse said. The Oilers, with an 18-15-2 mark and 38 points, are nipping at the heels. Edmonton played Calgary in each club’s second game of the season, with the southern rival taking the first meeting 4-3 on October 15 at Rogers Place. “That’s just how the schedule happens. It’s great for the fans. You always get up for the games. That’s just how it goes. And after just three games, too. Both teams are 1-1 in the series and both teams need the points. “You go from the COVID year and we played, what, 10 games, and you’re used to playing them at least four.
