Leicester City vs Newcastle United LIVE (ChronicleLive)

Live updates as Newcastle United travel to Leicester City for a Boxing Day clash as Premier League football finally returns to our screens.

The biggest danger we have is to think back to how well we’ve done and relax and stay in that mood." United now have the right people in place to achieve this. But with those results now in the rearview mirror for United they must now reset for part two of this unprecedented season. It's a quote that is refreshing as it is a sign that Newcastle - throughout the club - is starting to get noticed by its top-flight rivals. When asked about the narrative ahead of the second half of the season ahead, Howe said: "It’s very difficult because this season is unlike any other. A successful football club off the pitch provides the funds for a successful team on the pitch. However, for now Howe is determined to ensure his side remain in the hunt for a European finish after an impressive start to the campaign. Bringing in much-needed funds, and growing the brand. He hit double figures for three seasons on the spin before heading to Leicester City in 2019. Newcastle United are finally back in Premier League action as they head to the King Power Stadium today to take on Leicester City. The Newcastle boss is expected to name a strong team for Sunday's clash after going full strength against Bournemouth earlier this week. Even the training ground is getting more upgrades than just a few pictures hung on the walls.

Everton v Wolves, Leicester v Newcastle and more: Premier League ... (The Guardian)

Football clockwatch: Join Simon Burnton for the latest from around the grounds on a busy Boxing Day.

“Our guide walked in to say hello, a strongly built guy of average height, and my father’s face transformed - Dave Hickson. You could watch football forever and never see a clearer penalty. And that’s how to take a penalty. A chance for Leicester, after Dewsbury-Hall plays in Daka. Martin Logan emails to point out that another goal description has gone missing and Newcastle are in fact two up, Almiron having scored a very fine seventh-minute second. There have been eight first-half goals in its four 3pm kick-offs, and no other team in the Football League has more than one except struggling Burton Albion in League One, who look to be on their way to a first league win since 22 October being as they are 3-0 up against Lincoln City. A third for Fulham! Newcastle somehow fail to score a fourth! Traore is released on the right and his cross deflects to Ait-Nouri, who smacks it in! Another red card for James Tomkins – making his first Premier League start since Boxing Day last year in absence of the suspended Marc Guehi – and further goals from Fulham’s captain Tim Ream and Mitrovic, with his tenth of the campaign, swept Marco Silva’s side to a deserved victory that leaves them level on points with Liverpool. On this evidence, Newcastle should relish hosting these opponents again in a fortnight in the Carabao Cup quarter-final. Discontent was building among the home crowd inside Goodison Park even before the Wolves substitute Rayan Aït-Nouri gave Julen Lopetegui the perfect start to his reign and heightened the pressure on Frank Lampard with a 95th-minute winner against Everton.

Leicester City vs Newcastle United Odds, Pick | Premier League ... (The Action Network)

Read on for BJ Cunningham's Leicester City vs. Newcastle United pick, featuring a wager on one prop market presented.

The Magpies are one of the best pressing teams in the Premier League, as they’re third in PPDA and second in high turnovers. Offensively, Newcastle have been really good as well, as they’re averaging 1.54 npxG per 90 minutes and have the second-most big scoring chances in the Premier League. First off, the one weakness in Newcastle is their sub-par ability in build-up play. On the other end of the pitch, Leicester have improved defensively and are starting to see some of the positive regression they were due for. Right before the break, they beat Chelsea 1-0 and had a PPDA of 7.7 in the match. Also, they have created the third-fewest big scoring chances in the Premier League. The Magpies have only lost one match in this Premier League campaign and were red hot going into the World Cup break, winning five straight matches. Newcastle also contain a top-five defense in terms of xG per set piece. The Foxes have been very good at playing through pressure, as they have the third-best offensive PPDA in the Premier League. The Foxes had a terrible start to the season and at one point were sitting at the foot of the table. Leicester’s average shot distance is 18.6 yards, the second longest in the Premier League. However, Leicester picked up 12 points in their last five matches before the World Cup break, which moved them up to 13th place in the table.

Leicester City player ratings vs Newcastle: Tielemans stinker as fans ... (Leicestershire Live)

How we scored the Leicester City players as they fell to their heaviest home league defeat in more than a year, Chris Wood, Miguel Almiron, and Joelinton ...

His runs into the channels gave City an outlet, and he delivered a couple of teasing balls into the box. Ayoze Perez: He threw his hands up in frustration often in the first half as his little flicks around the corner went to nobody. He battled hard in the physical battles, and Trippier tried to scythe him down a few times knowing he had the pace to beat him, but there was nothing in the way of end product. Patson Daka: With his pace and movement, he looked a threat, and he had City’s best chance of the first half when he ran in behind, only to be denied by Pope. Dennis Praet: He barely touched the ball in his 17 minutes on the pitch before taking a blow to the hip that resulted in his withdrawal. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall: He may have been the best of a bad bunch in the first half, at least showing an urgency in the way he played, and occasionally linking well with Barnes and Thomas, while playing a nice pass for Daka’s big chance. Boubakary Soumare: Bar the odd poor pass, he was decent in possession, showing a cool head to keep the ball under pressure and play the ball into the right areas. On the ball, he tried to make forward passes, but he was as guilty as most for playing wayward balls. Wout Faes: It was his ineffective clearances that led to the penalty, and he gave the ball away fairly regularly throughout the afternoon. But he did recover, and defended with more composure than his partner Faes for the rest of the game, particularly in how he blocked off Newcastle runners. Danny Ward: He had a couple of hairy moments that he got away with when he ran out to meet Joelinton 35 yards from goal in the first half, and when he flapped at a corner in the second. Daka claimed a penalty as he had been denied a chance to chase the ball down by Pope, but nothing was given.
