Raiders' Chandler Jones carted off, ruled out with elbow injury vs ... (The Athletic)

Jones sustained the injury on a collision with his teammate Maxx Crosby.

Given Jones was just coming on strong and giving the Raiders the pass rush duo they envisioned alongside Maxx Crosby, it’s almost cruel that he went down with an elbow injury in the third quarter after colliding with Crosby. It’s unclear whether Jones will have an extended absence but, considering the Raiders only have two more regular-season contests left, his season would likely be over even if it’s only a moderately serious injury. And just like Jones, Perryman was ruled out very quickly. The Chandler Jones experience has mostly been a letdown for the Raiders this season, but he’d been on a tear coming into Saturday night’s game against the Steelers. A winter storm kept the game somewhat quiet as plenty of rushing happened with minimum jaw-dropping moments - outside of a few interceptions and one last-minute touchdown. He was seen in the locker room after the game with a sling on his left arm. 'This one stings': Raiders can't maintain lead against Pittsburgh ... (Raiders.com)

In hindsight, the Las Vegas Raiders played well enough for win this game, which made it all the more disappointing to lose in the fashion they did.

The Silver and Black's 2022-23 season concludes with two home games in the new year – against the 49ers and Chiefs. "I just care so much and when you don't do your best, let your team down, let your organization, the fans down, it hurts. "I thought the defense hung in there," said McDaniels. As much as it sucks, tomorrow you've got to get ready for the next one and that's how it goes. The Silver and Black played with the lead for the majority of Saturday night's game, managing it well with clean football and off the back of the defense. Despite their exits, the defense kept the Steelers out of the end zone until late in the fourth quarter.

Miscues, missed chances cost Raiders in loss to Steelers (Cochrane Today)

His best throw was his last, a fastball over the middle to Pickens, who easily split defenders even though he's Pittsburgh’s best — and sometimes only — downfield threat. Yet Las Vegas couldn't create any real breathing room, thanks in large part to a return to the sloppy form that plagued it during a 2-5 start. Yet barring a miracle, it will miss the post-season despite a series of splashy off-season moves, namely trading for wide receiver Davante Adams. "I obviously have to do a better job to try and close the gap.” … Tomorrow you’ve got to get ready for the next one. The game followed a formula that's become second nature to Las Vegas during head coach Josh McDaniels' uneven first season: It was tight all the way until the end.

Steelers honor Franco Harris by rallying past Raiders (ESPN)

A day after the 50th anniversary of Franco Harris' "Immaculate Reception" the Steelers honored the Hall of Famer with a 13-10 win over the Raiders.

Pittsburgh rookie [Connor Heyward](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/4241961/connor-heyward) ran for a first down to help the Steelers run out of the clock. Raiders left to pick up the pieces of a lost season (Las Vegas Review-Journal)

The Raiders are who they are, good enough to keep games close but bad enough to lose more than they win. Building a better roster is priority one.

There will be plenty of time to decide that, of course. Changing that will be priority number one this offseason for Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler. They are, quite clearly, the proverbial team that is just good enough to keep it close but just bad enough to also lose. Time and again on Saturday and this season, the Raiders shot themselves in the foot to blow leads or fall short of completing a comeback. “But this one stings.” As they prepared to head to the airport for a late-night flight that would cross into Christmas morning, the sad state of affairs almost seemed predictable. The analysis of another loss beckoned, just as it has eight other times in a troubled season that has created more questions than answers.
