Poles talks Bears-Bills on pregame radio show (ChicagoBears.com)

General manager Ryan Poles spoke with Jeff Joniak Sunday on the Bears pregame radio show on WBBM Newsradio 780 AM and 105.9 FM.

We want that challenge, want to see if we can rise above it and play to that level, because at the end of the day, that's what we want to be, down the road is being an elite team that is gonna get everyone's best. The guys competed all day long and again, they're gonna have to have that same resilience and fight and compete with them this upcoming weekend. Yeah, I think now one of emphasis we'll have is can we keep certain units together and have continuity on the team. Very well-coached, so again, our team's gonna have the ability to get matched up with one of the best in the league and that's what we want. I think that's why it's important we continue to encourage our guys that are playing with a mentality that we ask them to have which is being tough and being able to battle the elements. So I'm looking forward to that and I think it's gonna help us. You can see some of the young guys gaining confidence and really believing in their skill level. So we get an opportunity to show some of our versatility and for these guys to show that they can perform at a high level at different positions. So I know that those two runners are gonna do a great job. I know this Bills team is good up front, but do you still feel that this No. So he's back with David Montgomery and of course [Justin Fields](/team/players-roster/justin-fields/)' excellence, do you feel good about running the ball? The following is a transcript of Poles' comments:

Bears risers, fallers after loss to Bills on Christmas Eve (NBC Sports Chicago)

The Bears had a 10-6 at halftime on a cold day at Soldier Field, but Bills running backs Devin Singletary and James Cook turned it on in the second half.

In the second half however, the Bills dominated the Bears in the trenches and completely stuffed the running game. So the Bills moved to a more run-heavy approach in the second half and easily put the game away from there. The defensive line was unable to get any penetration in the backfield, and the linebackers behind them couldn’t catch either Devin Singletary or James Cook at the second level. He rose to the occasion and was a major reason why the Bears did well to limit the Bills’ high-flying passing attack. Early in the game it became clear that throwing the ball around a breezy Soldier Field was going to be tough. He took advantage of a rare poor throw from Josh Allen, made a good leaping catch and added a good return to set the offense up on their 34-yard line instead of backed up against their own endzone.

Bills rout Bears to clinch AFC East | CBC Sports (CBC.ca)

Devin Singletary and James Cook ran for long touchdowns in the third quarter, and the Buffalo Bills clinched the AFC East title by beating the Bears 35-13 ...

The Patriots had the ball on the Cincinnati 5 with just over a minute to play when Rhamondre Stevenson was hit by Vonn Bell and fumbled, leading to Josh Tupou's recovery. Cincinnati led 22-18 and was facing third down with less than four minutes to play when Ja'Marr Chase caught a short pass from Burrow and was stripped by Matt Judon. Singletary scored on a 33-yard run on the opening drive of the second half and finished with 106 yards in the game. In fact, it had been so cold the tarp was frozen to the field when workers tried to remove it three hours before kickoff. The Bengals (11-4) won their seventh straight game and remained in the driver's seat for a second consecutive AFC North title despite nearly blowing a 22-0 halftime lead. Tee Higgins had eight catches for 128 yards and a TD. And the NFL's leading receiver had room to take it all the way before being tripped after a 17-yard gain. Burrow finished 40 of 52 for 375 yards and two interceptions. Allen finished with 172 yards, two TD passes and two interceptions while facing a short-handed secondary. It highlighted an otherwise subpar outing that helped the Bills (12-3) secure their third straight division title with their sixth win in a row. Chicago's Cairo Santos kicked a field goal early in the fourth quarter that Nicholas Morrow set up by picking off an ill-advised pass. Buffalo remained on track for the No.

5 takeaways from the Bills' 35-13 win over the Bears (Bills Wire)

Buffalo Bills takeaways from Week 16 win over the Chicago Bears, 35-13, including QB Josh Allen, Justin Fields.

Down 7-0, the Bills scored a touchdown and Bass missed the extra point. Special teams problems bled all over the unit a bit. His struggled made the Bills decide to go for two-point conversions afterward. Not against the Bears. At least, not like he was early in 2022. Allen forced things too much, leading to his 15-for-26 overall day passing with only 172 yards.

OL Michael Schofield III (thumb) was injured on the opening drive, but returned in the second quarter. Singletary ran for 106 yards and became the first Bills player this season to hit triple-digits in a game. The next, they're blowing the opposite way." Allen finished with 172 yards, two TD passes and two interceptions even though he was facing a short-handed secondary. "The reality of it is I'm not going to be running for like 100 yards a game," Fields said. Chicago's Cairo Santos kicked a field goal early in the fourth quarter that Nicholas Morrow set up by picking off an ill-advised pass. Dante Pettis had a touchdown catch for Chicago. But Buffalo owns the head-to-head tiebreaker after defeating the Chiefs in October. Sometimes the flags are blowing one way. He now has 174 touchdowns -- 135 passing, 38 rushing and one receiving. Chicago's Justin Fields threw for 119 yards and a touchdown. 1 seed in the AFC.

Allen, Poyer, Oliver & McDermott share emotions on AFC East clinching win + Christmas Eve spent in Chicago.

When we went to go play in Detroit two times and both of those games were close, we were just scratching and clawing just to pull out a win. "It just shows that we've got a lot of great leaders on this team and a lot of young guys that just bought into everything that we do here. As of Saturday evening, the plan is to attempt to fly out of Chicago and into Rochester, NY on Sunday morning. Yes, it's a shame we can't get home, but there are a lot of people who have got it a lot worse than we do out there, including some people back home right now." But having overcome challenges a handful of times already this season, Allen acknowledged that these moments are chances for the team to learn and get better from. Not a lot of people want to come to Buffalo in late January, early February."
