For Festivus, Here's The Airing Of 10 Grievances From 2022 (Forbes)

Once again it's time to celebrate Festivus, that holiday touted by the character Frank Costanza on the TV show Seinfeld.

If you still question the existence of such problems, just jump on Twitter for a little while or take a look at the lack of diversity in the upper echelons of most industries, including medicine and health care. Racism, sexism, and a whole host of other -isms exist in the U.S. Add to that surges in the flu and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and you’ve got a triple-demic, [one (or rather three) that I covered for Forbes on December 10](https://www.forbes.com/sites/brucelee/2022/12/10/bringbackmasks-trends-as-tripledemic-of-covid-19-rsv-flu-worsens/). [as I reported for Forbes back in September](https://www.forbes.com/sites/brucelee/2022/09/19/president-biden-prematurely-saying-covid-19-pandemic-is-over-is-called-reckless/). And a bunch of other things that were in short supply at some point during the year. Will that the Congressman’s tweet open the “Gaetz” to even more bullying of face mask wearers? No, that’s not the beginning of a Jerry Seinfeld routine. The health care system has left many well-meaning health care professionals stuck in untenable situations as well. In 2022, the U.S. Or what about those folks on Instagram telling you how super-thin or even sickly-thin is the look to die for, so to speak, or how to hang yourself, [as mentioned in my Forbes article last week](https://www.forbes.com/sites/brucelee/2022/12/18/meta-tiktok-others-being-sued-here-are-10-ways-social-media-can-hurt-kids-mental-health/)? [as I covered for Forbes in September](https://www.forbes.com/sites/brucelee/2022/09/21/fda-here-are-dangers-of-nyquil-chicken-and-benadryl-challenges-on-social-media/?sh=5cb4d5af2e64)? One of Costanza’s traditions for the Festivus holiday was the airing of grievances.

Eventually, they stopped asking, and said Festivus was going to end up in the show whether O’Keefe wrote it or not. His brother spilled the beans about Festivus during a party with Seinfeld producers, who wanted it in the show. “My grandmother, Jeanette Marie O’Connor O’Keefe, had just dropped dead in a supermarket, and my dad loved his mom,” O’Keefe said. But it had nothing to do with class consciousness or the fight against Christmas commercialism — it was about the sudden death of O’Keefe’s grandmother in 1976. “My dad would record everything — grievances with Reader’s Digest, anger about the British occupation in Northern Ireland, and just general weirdness,” O’Keefe said. O’Keefe said Festivus was invented by his late father, Daniel O’Keefe, who was a writer and editor at Reader’s Digest.

Opinion: The Festivus 'Airing of Grievances' was made for Canada (Financial Post)

Festivus, introduced to the world by Seinfeld, would allow Canadians to express their many grievances, writes David Clement. Read on.

With overall inflation at 40-year highs, now would be the perfect time to get rid of it once and for all. Peer-reviewed research shows that supply management adds This is the one-two punch of the growing nanny state: increase taxes mercilessly and then shame consumers for what almost every other jurisdiction in the world considers low-risk drinking. — the excise tax on all alcohol increases automatically, having been indexed by law to inflation. In a Seinfeld episode of December 1997, the show’s chief curmudgeon, Frank Costanza, father of George, introduced the holiday to the world. With pandemic restrictions completely behind us, this holiday season is the first since 2019 in which life is starting to feel normal again.

Happy Festivus: How to Celebrate the 'Seinfeld' Holiday for Airing ... (NBC New York)

The anti-holiday holiday made famous on "Seinfeld" is celebrated annually on Dec. 23. Here's a look at its origins, traditions and how to celebrate.

Serve it to guests atop a bed of lettuce. “There was the playing of strange German and Italian pop music from the ’50s. The “Seinfeld” Festivus episode developed from series writer Dan O’Keefe’s childhood experiences. The metal, he says admiringly, has a “very high strength-to-weight ratio.” Billed as “Festivus for the rest of us,” the holiday is celebrated by the Costanza clan on Dec. Festivus is a wacky holiday popularized in a 1997 “Seinfeld” episode.

Happy Festivus: An airing of my MLB grievances for 2022 (Sporting News)

Enough with the blackouts, whining owners and ever-changing baseballs. Oh, there's more. So much more.

And the Correa thing seems to [get worse by the day](https://www.sfchronicle.com/sports/giants/article/Carlos-Correa-went-house-shopping-in-Bay-Area-17672394.php). . . I like "Bull Durham" and "The Naked Gun" as much as the next guy, but I'd much rather watch some original programming. You've locked up a lot of talented and popular youngsters for a long time, but you've also sent the message to your fans that those guys will probably play elsewhere once their contracts end. You've got Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani, two of the most talented players of all time, yet you remain allergic to winning because you consistently fail to build a good roster around them. [seems like a non-issue](https://www.knbr.com/2022/12/21/giants-were-concerned-about-carlos-correas-ankle-injury-sustained-in-2014-report/) in his medicals. Commissioner Rob Manfred [has indicated](https://awfulannouncing.com/mlb/rob-manfred-blackouts-mlb-tv-rights.html) that changes could be on the way. You have tons of money and were ready to spend it on Correa, but were apparently spooked by what You just choose not to spend the money. It's time for the airing of grievances.

Yankees Festivus 2022: Airing grievances with Brian Cashman, Hal ... (Elite Sports NY)

Yes, the Yankees re-signed Aaron Judge and added Carlos Rodon. But there is still plenty to be angry about, folks.

Do you really think he’d let Cashman and the analytics run the show this much? Festivus is all about the complaints and grievances. And no, we don’t care about the high walks and low strikeouts. Eat the money and let Oswald Peraza take over. So, without further ado, let us begin Festivus 2022 with the airing of grievances. The holidays are stressful enough and commercialism is annoying.

There is a good possibility that missing so many players contributed to the Capitals’ subpar performance during the early portion of the season and their low shooting percentage. [Connor Brown injured his knee, needed surgery, and is out for the season](https://novacapsfans.com/2022/11/01/capitals-brown-likely-out-for-season-after-undergoing-acl-surgery-but-not-ruled-out/). The Capitals were able to kill the first penalty of his double minor but could not kill them both. Lous Blues on November 17 where they had 51 shots on goal, a 5-2 loss to the Florida Panthers on November 15 where they had 43 shots. The Capitals’ shooting percentage this season is 9.7%, which ranks 21st, the bottom third of all teams. Okay, that was technically 5-7-2 since two of the team’s nine losses were in Overtime, but it was enough to dump them into sixth place in the Metropolitan Division. And even though the Capitals have played much better during the month of December, there are still plenty of grievances to air. December 23 is traditionally the day that the non-commercial holiday of Festivus is celebrated across the world.
