Key Player Receives Last Minute Injury Update For Nets vs. Raptors ... (Sports Illustrated)

The Brooklyn Nets are set to take on the Toronto Raptors on Friday night, and they will have a key player available. After being listed as questionable, ...

What was once looking like a lost season now has much more hope, and the Nets will look to keep that going in Toronto on Friday night. For Brooklyn, they are still holding onto the Eastern Conference's 4th seed, just one game out of 3rd, but also just two games above 7th. This is a big boost for Brooklyn, as Curry really helps what the team does offensively.

Nets vs Raptors Picks and Predictions: Toronto's Skid Continues (Covers.com)

NBA odds, picks, and predictions for the Brooklyn Nets at Toronto Raptors on December 16. NBA betting best bet and free pick analysis.

Both of these teams play at a below-average tempo, with the Nets 22nd in the league in pace and the Raptors 23rd. In 20 games with Irving this season, the Nets have a defensive rating of 114.4, while they boast a much better 109.8 defensive rating without him. It might be surprising to hear, but the Nets are fourth in the league in opponent field goal percentage (45.3%). With both of those All-Stars healthy, the Raps have been more efficient on offense although the absence of OG Anunoby will hurt them on the defensive end of the floor. Another area they have struggled in has been their ability to defend the arc, ranking 29th in opponent 3-point percentage (37.9%). Anunoby missed his second-straight game in that contest and the Raptors will have to play without their two-way workhorse for at least another week as he deals with a hip injury. Perhaps most importantly, [Ben Simmons](https://www.covers.com/sport/basketball/nba/players/1645/ben-simmons) is finally contributing (albeit in limited minutes) and the reserves have stepped up, with the Nets beating the Pacers 136-133 last week despite sitting their entire starting lineup. The Nets have won all three meetings this season and are 4-0 ATS in the last four. If you ignore their shoddy defense in that contest (which we probably should do since they were missing their eight best players), the Nets have limited opponents to 105.8 ppg over their last eight games. That combined with their strong offensive rebounding has resulted in the Raps leading the league with a whopping 7.7 extra scoring chances per game — more than twice as high as second-place Phoenix. Can Kevin Durant continue his red-hot play and lead the Nets to another win? They've won eight of their last nine games and are coming off three days of rest after beating the Wizards 112-100 on Monday.

Nets vs. Raptors Odds, Pick, Prediction: Emphasis on Scoring in ... (The Action Network)

Action Network contributor Chris Baker previews how to bet Friday night's matchup between the Nets and 76ers.

If the Raptors can control the defensive glass and turn the Nets over they should have plenty of opportunities to get out and run on this defense. The Raptors should have no issues limiting on the defensive glass as the Nets rank 29th in the NBA in offensive rebound rate. At the same time they should continue to have issues defending the three point line and that is a recipe for disaster against this Brooklyn team loaded with three point shooters. The situation lines up with the tactical advantages for both teams so I expect to see lots of points and will be playing the over 226.5 in this one. The content on this page is for informational purposes only. The Raptors should have a massive edge on the offensive glass — fourth best offensive rebounding team in the NBA. They are in 10th place of the Eastern conference with a 13-15 record and the injuries are also starting to pile up on their already thin rotation. With Yuta Watanabe back, the Nets will have plenty of shooters to capitalize on the Raptors’ weakness. The Nets have struggled to finish defensive possessions, ranking dead-last in Defensive Rebound Rate. This has been a good matchup for the Nets’ offense all season as the Raptors struggle to defend the perimeter. Can the Raptors overcome a fully healthy and rested Nets team? On top of their health, the Nets will also have a rest advantage over the Raptors as the Nets starters have effectively played one game during the past week.

The under is the play once again tonight. The Nets rank 15th in points per game over the last 10, while the Raptors sit 25th in the same category over that timespan. The Nets enter this game as winners of four straight, while the Raptors are on a three-game skid.

As the Toronto Raptors look to get over some recent struggles, they welcome the Brooklyn Nets to town on Friday night.

Brooklyn is averaging 114.8 points in its past eight games, while the Raptors have allowed 115.6 points in the same span. Brooklyn got off to a 41-17 lead in the first quarter last time out against Toronto, coasting to a victory at home. A loss against the league-leading Celtics is the Nets’ only blemish since Nov. Nets over 113.5 points (-114): Brooklyn is halfway through a four-game road swing, but it hasn’t been as grinding so far as you might think. A greater loss came on the Raps’ depth chart recently, as defensive stalwart OG Anunoby sustained a hip injury that will keep him out for at least the coming week. The pregame narrative: These teams are trending in opposite directions, which is bad news for Toronto.
