What Tuesday's game between the San Jose Sharks and Anaheim Ducks lacked in defensive details was more than made up for by its sheer entertainment.
“I know in this locker room, we can be better, obviously, and put this behind us and get ready for our next game.” But Anaheim’s Isac Lundestrom, with all kinds of time to make a play in San Jose’s zone, found an open Frank Vatrano, who fired it past Kahkonen to tie the game at the 10:52 mark. But this week represented an ideal opportunity for San Jose to try and inch closer to a .500 points percentage. “We just played a little bit too loose,” Karlsson said. “We’ve come a long way since the start of the season. “I think everybody’s seeing what a world-class player he is,” Quinn said.

I don’t really think that this game today was the step we wanted to take, but hopefully, we can find a way to make it a necessary one and learn something from it.” So what kind of Sharks team will show up to play Thursday night against Matthew Tkachuk and the Panthers? “It was an up-and-down game, it had a little bit of a pond hockey feel to it in a lot of ways and it was entertaining. They’ve been home now for over a week, had the day off Sunday, and had a practice on Monday. “I thought the first period might have been as bad a period as we’ve played all year,” Sharks coach David Quinn said. Karlsson’s third goal came with 2:12 left in the third period and tied the game 5-5 — the biggest reason why the Sharks were at least able to collect one point.

Meier responded with a power play goal early in the second to tie the game at 3. Karlsson answered with two goals in 23 seconds, the seventh-fastest mark by a single player in Sharks history. “As a goalie, you can’t worry about the number of goals that you give up during the game,” Stolarz said. “The puck went in, which is all that matters,” Karlsson said. In the shootout, Logan Couture and Trevor Zegras exchanged goals, before Kevin Labanc couldn’t get a shot off as the third shooter.
