But they did lose to Bournemouth, and I don't know which Leicester will turn up this week. Without him, Manchester City will have to do things differently. They played earlier in the week but Erling Haaland came off at half-time. Up next for City is a Saturday lunchtime trip to Leicester, an away day City have always found fairly tricky.

But he provided a brilliant cross for Daka's opportunity and made City a much greater threat in the final third. He made a good run for his headed chance, but just couldn't get direct it into one of the corners. Patson Daka: He pressed really well and that was important for the way City piled on the pressure late on. Harvey Barnes: He was City’s best outlet in the first half, given his speed, but too often he ran into trouble or wasted his opportunities with a poor final shot or touch. In the final 20 minutes, when moved centrally, he was at the heart of City’s good moves, playing quick ball to Daka and Iheanacho and pressing well. James Maddison: The first-half showing meant he was limited in what he could do on the front foot, but when he did get it in advanced areas, he made poor decisions. On the ball, he checked back too often and played safe when the ball to Barnes down the line was on. On the attack, he didn’t have as much freedom as usual, but his link-up with Amartey and Tielemans allowed City to break out on that side. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall: A really difficult afternoon for the homegrown midfielder and it was no surprise he was pulled at half-time. He won all of his headers when Man City were forced to cross in search of an opening, and commanded the Leicester defence well from the middle. He made strong saves from Rodri, Alvarez and Silva in the first half and claimed crosses, but more importantly, he provided quick ball for City’s counters. The best chance was a header for Timothy Castagne from James Maddison’s free-kick, but he got his connection wrong.
