Houston came in off a bye that followed its first win of the season. Collins will be reevaluated when the team returns to Houston. Houston came in with the fourth-best red-zone defense, having allowed seven touchdowns in opponents’ 18 trips inside the 20-yard line. Jacobs trampled the Texans with 14 of his 20 rushes going for 5 or more yards. “Defensively, just didn’t play well enough,” Smith said. There’s a lot of things, gotta give them a lot of credit for that.

For a third time in the last six years, the Yankees saw their season come to an end at the hands of Houston. The Yankees were also felled by a massive defensive error (this time in the outfield) during their Game 3 loss to the Astros. Tyler Herro is second on the team in both scoring (20.7) and rebounding (6.7). Charania added that the Lakers recently spoke to the Hornets about Hornets point guard Terry Rozier, and the Hornets are among the team that were linked to Westbrook previously. The Yankees’ season came to an end on Sunday as the Houston Astros beat them 6-5 in Game 4 of the ALCS to finish off the series sweep. Borowiecki wasn’t a full time option for the Preds, as he was rotating in and out of the lineup with Jeremy Lauzon. Heading into the game, San Francisco had given up the least total yards and was second in passing yards and points allowed per game in the NFL. "I know full well that we will continue to improve as the season goes along -- 82 games is a really long season, and we just have to stay the course." He is a new starter for Denver after being acquired from Washington as part of the deal that sent Monte Morris and Will Barton to the Wizards. The contest was Murray's second of the season and Denver coach Michael Malone said it was an improvement from his season debut. Lillard has scored 41 points in each of the past two games, and he'll look to help the Portland Trail Blazers open the season with their fourth consecutive win when they host the Denver Nuggets on Monday night. And with nine different targets, Mills did a great job spreading the ball around to Houston's receivers, tight ends and running backs.

Is Josh Jacobs the best Raiders running back since Marcus Allen? (Just Blog Baby)

The Las Vegas Raiders now stand at 2-4, keeping their playoff hopes alive after overcoming a sloppy first half thanks to Josh Jacobs.

Allen, who was in attendance for the game at Allegiant Stadium, is arguably the greatest running back in the organization’s history. In the last three contests, Jacobs has quite literally carried the team, though overall, the Raiders have come up short. On the final drive of the half for the Raiders, Jacobs pushed the offense during their 10-play, 82-yard drive.

Proving it: Josh Jacobs runs Raiders to win, builds on his record ... (Las Vegas Sun)

In his 49th game with the Raiders, Jacobs surpassed Hall of Famer Marcus Allen for the most rushing yards in franchise history through a player's first 50 ...

“It’s huge to have him here and have him happy for me to beat his record.” Jacobs couldn’t have cared less as his postgame beaming hit another level when he had a surprise visitor outside the locker room — Allen. The stadium electrified more than it had at any other point of the day, and stayed that way as the next drive was Jacobs’ final touchdown. The accomplishment that made Jacobs proudest, however, was pulling his team to victory in the fourth quarter during what had otherwise been a frustrating day. The Raiders’ defense didn’t force a punt until the fourth quarter after Crosby stuffed Pierce for no gain on a 3rd-and-1 run at the Texans’ 33-yard line. Then, in September, McDaniels didn’t announce Jacobs as a captain, a role he held last season. He exploded through a hole and flattened two defenders at the goal line on a 7-yard touchdown dive up the middle with seven minutes left on the clock. In his 49th game with the Raiders, Jacobs surpassed Hall of Famer Marcus Allen for the most rushing yards in franchise history through a player’s first 50 games. On his final score, he went untouched on a 15-yard counter where he outraced two defensive backs on a Texans’ defense Carr called the fastest he’s ever seen. The new Raiders’ braintrust of coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler seemed to have doubts based on their personnel moves. He had 20 carries for 143 rushing yards and three touchdowns against the Texans, making him the first Raider running back since Napoleon Kaufman in 1997 to record three straight 100-yard games on the ground. Josh Jacobs, on the other hand, was taking his time getting off the field as he roamed slowly with a black Gatorade towel draped over his head and a smile stretched widely across his face.

3 Takeaways from Raiders' Week 7 Win vs. Texans (Bleacher Report)

A week off and a favorable matchup against a struggling team were just what the Las Vegas Raiders needed to get their season back on track.

However, the Raiders will be on the road for four of the next five weeks, with the Nov. “The biggest thing for me is I want to get in the playoffs,” Jacobs said, per Ramirez. Each of Las Vegas' next four games is against a team with either a losing or .500 record: the New Orleans Saints (2-5), the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-5), the Indianapolis Colts (3-3-1) and the Denver Broncos (2-5). But after Sunday's victory, they could be poised to go on a roll, as they have several more favorable matchups looming in the near future. Las Vegas then ran out the final 1:11 to seal the victory. Then on its next possession, Mills was intercepted by safety Duron Harmon, who returned it 73 yards for a TD that put the Raiders up 38-20. Jacobs has run for more than 100 yards in three straight contests for the first time. the Texans, Jacobs had 20 carries for 143 yards and three second-half TDs. Houston racked up 404 total yards of offense, with Davis Mills airing it out for 302 yards and a pair of touchdown passes. The Texans made it a competitive game, and they even had a 20-17 lead after three quarters. Fresh off their bye, the Raiders pulled away late for a 38-20 win over the Houston Texans on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium. Because on Sunday, they looked much more like the team that many expected them to be coming into the 2022 campaign.

Maybe the Raiders were going to continue to exploit the Texans defense anyway, but what happens if the Texans get that fourth and one in the fourth quarter when it was 24-20? His second catch was a 39-yard catch and run in the third quarter on third and three. That in turn led to the three play, nail in the coffin sequence - Adams third down reception/Texans offside on fourth and one/Jacobs TD. He had one tackle where he scraped into the gap and made a strong solid tackle. On the first drive of the second half, he spun out of a pressure, rolled to his left and threw a dime to Phillip Dorsett on the sideline for a big first down. Texans LB Christian Harris, playing in the first game of his career, seemed to be in the perfect position to make the tackle, well short of the first down. His first reception was a 19-yard catch and run on third down and four in the first quarter. The front seven couldn't get off blocks and get to the ball. The Texans got beat on pin and pull toss sweep, counter and isolation. It was the first time the Texans had ever played in Las Vegas and, for a while, it looked like the Texans were about to leave Vegas with a memorable first win near the famous Las Vegas Strip. On one play in the first half, he got a little pressure and flipped, literally, flipped the ball out to RB Dameon Pierce who picked up six yards on first down. He LASERED that throw into Dorsett who split the cornerback and safety in cover two.

Las Vegas Raiders Houston Texans Week 7 game review (Silver and Black Pride)

Las Vegas hits blackjack in fourth quarter as sloppy first half leads to final-stanza dominance of Houston.

—Raiders receiver Mack Hollins ran a solid route and leapt up to haul in Carr’s 26-yard dart for the touchdown to tie the game at 10 apiece late in the second quarter. —Houston quarterback David Mills operated with comfort for much of the first half and finished 28 of 41 for 302 yards and two touchdowns. His seven-yard power run with 13:32 on the clock in the fourth quarter put the Silver & Black ahead 24-20 and his most impressive score, a 15-yard gallop that showcased his patience, vision, power and speed, with 7:06 left to play capped his afternoon and gave the Raiders a 31-20 lead. You can play single-high and do it certain ways to just get help there and it gives you good angles in the run game, or it gives you this or that. He’s arguably the best safety in the Las Vegas secondary. And Josh is one of the best backs in the league. Had a couple penalties in the kicking game. That was a welcome sight considering the sloppy Raiders football that preceded it — something that wasn’t flattering for a team coming off a bye. In what was truly a tale of two halves, the host Raiders were akin to the degenerate gambler who pisses away his money at the casino habitually. And just like the illustrious poem, the Raiders pillage for fun, knocked the Texans ‘round and upside down and laughed when they conquered and won. Like any desperate gambler looking to swing their fortune, the Raiders hit blackjack when they needed it most: 21 points in the all-important fourth quarter. But something started to happen in the second half.

The Las Vegas Raiders felt they figured out the Houston Texans in some key ways to pull off a 21-point fourth quarter en route to victory.

For the Texans, there was strong execution offensively through three quarters with a season-high 404 yards and 20 points on the board. Before the Texans can re-emerge as a winning organization, greater consistency will be required. “I come back to them all the time because I feel like it’s the first time in a long time where I’ve had four to five yards without being touched by anybody. “It’s all them — the players win the game. Josh Jacobs was instrumental in the Raiders' efforts as he rushed for a total of 143 yards with three second-half touchdowns. Las Vegas not only did that but they managed to to use 21 fourth-quarter points to win by an 18-point margin.

Here are observations from the Raiders' triumph over the Texans in what could become the start of a much-needed winning streak.

He’s rushed for 633 yards (third in the league) while averaging 5.7 yards per carry (eighth among running backs) and has six rushing touchdowns (tied for second in the league). That was a result of Graham prioritizing getting more defensive backs on the field — the Raiders used six or more defensive backs on 36.9 percent of their defensive snaps — but fellow linebacker [Divine Deablo](https://theathletic.com/nfl/player/divine-deablo-aHIiQRHqoq2dFqtY/) played every snap. [Darren Waller](https://theathletic.com/nfl/player/darren-waller-UtIo2JIONtuLNq5x/) and [Hunter Renfrow](https://theathletic.com/nfl/player/hunter-renfrow-8Z6MFjVwZSqWlGmH/) in and out due to injury this season, teams have remained terrified of the omnipresent threat that is [Davante Adams](https://theathletic.com/nfl/player/davante-adams-FBJF4NEJQGDVUpnC/). Deablo leads the team with 59 tackles and has been solid in pass coverage; he led the team with 11 tackles against the Texans. He was on the field for 20 pass-blocking snaps and didn’t allow a single pressure. Ferrell has a pressure rate of 11.3 percent, which is second among defensive linemen on the team behind Maxx Crosby at 13.5 percent, and Ferrell had a pressure rate of 13.8 percent against the Texans. [Tre’von Moehrig](https://theathletic.com/nfl/player/trevon-moehrig-ONvxym2hsd71MivV/) and played every snap. They allowed the Texans to average 6.2 yards per play (the ninth most in Week 7 entering Monday night), make 21 first downs (tied for the 10th most) and convert 60 percent of their third downs (the third-best rate). And not only were the only significant additions two rookies in It’s coming through most notably in the run game and is setting the tone for the entire offense. I think the coaches have done a nice job of being patient and continuing to teach, and the players have done a really good job of continuing to listen and try to do what’s being asked of them. With [Josh Jacobs](https://theathletic.com/nfl/player/josh-jacobs-0peZjGZnNj4BFDtc/) leading the way, the Raiders averaged 4.9 yards on 14 carries in the first half.
